Adam Davis Wins $25K Thursday At The Million!
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 23rd Annual Million Dollar Drag Race kicked into high gear on Thursday with the first of three $25,000 to win events. A large field of over 570 racers took their shot at a big payday but at the end of the night, it was Adam Davis and his small-tire Camaro holding the winner’s check. Davis, Eva, Ala., defeated Nick Ross, Gardendale, Ala., by .003-second in a super close race which saw both drivers let go .019 and run dead-on their dial with Davis going dead zero to take the win over Ross’s dead on three. Davis, an avid footbraker, admitted to getting lucky throughout the event but it looked more like skill from the grandstands.
Runner-up Nick Ross drove an outstanding race consistently laying down killer laps in his Malibu. Although he came up a few “thou’ short in the final, Ross put up a solid effort in the final which should have him free rolling the rest of the weekend.
Not only did the Thursday $25K at the Million feature an all doorcar final round, the semifinals were also an all doorcar affair as Trampus Stewart, driving a ’69 Camaro, fell to Ross while eventual winner Davis earned the bye.
Current NHRA Nitro Funny Car driver and former Super Comp world champion Shawn Langdon made it to five cars in his dragster before losing to Davis. Cody Moore also made it to five cars in his dragster before losing to Ross.
