LODRS D1 Results – Sawyer Family Dominates at Cecil County

RISING SUN, Md. – The Sawyer family dominated the rain-delayed Division 1 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event held at Cecil County Dragway.  Three Sawyer’s made final rounds in two classes as Mike Sawyer lead the way with his triumph over his father Ray in the Super Gas final while his brother Brian took runner-up honors in Super Street.  What an amazing weekend for the Sawyer family.

Results –

Super Stock – A. Lincoln Morehead won Super Stock over Mark Alvey in a double break-out final round.

Stock Eliminator – James Williamson captured his first Stock Eliminator victory when he defeated James Daniels in the final.  Williamson overcame Daniels holeshot when Daniels ran a tenth above his dial-in.

Super Comp – Jack Sepanek defeated Kyle Bigley in the Super Comp final.  Sepanek left first and held on when Bigley ran under the index.

Super Gas – Mike Sawyer drilled the tree with an .008 reaction in the final which allowed his 9.935 take down his father’s 9.905.  Mike took .008 stripe to capture the win.

Super Street – Taylor Iacono captured her first Super Street win with a final round decision over Brian Sawyer.  Taylor used a .011 reaction paired with a 10.922 to defeat Sawyer who broke-out with a 10.882 pass.

Top Dragster – Carmen Mollichella won Top Dragster with a final round win over Aldan Miller.  Mollichella took the .004 win after her .014 package was slightly better than Miller’s .018 package.  It amazes me to see just how consistent these Top Dragsters can be when they’re running six-seconds at 200 mph.

Top Sportsman – The Top Sportsman results had an impact on the national championship as Ronnie Proctor moved into second place in the national standings after his runner-up effort to Michael Cerro.  In addition to Proctor’s success, both Donny Urban and Sandy Wilkins moved into the top 10 nationally after making rounds at Cecil County.
Congratulations to all of the winners!
