U.S. Nationals Day 1 Update
BROWNSBURG, Ind. – Day 1 of the 64th Annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals is in the books. Racers from all across the country took to the track today for their first qualifying and time runs. Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, and Super Gas racers each received two shots at the track today while the Hemi cars took their first shot at qualifying.
The Super Stock and Stock Eliminator cars were flat-out flying today. With temperatures in the low 80’s, racers laid down some outstanding times at Lucas Oil Raceway today. Paul Wong, Las Vegas, Nev., the #1 qualifier in Stock Eliminator ran almost two seconds under his index. I don’t know that I’ve seen that someone run that far under the index in years. In addition, the #1 qualifier in Super Stock, Ernie Neal of Columbus, Ind., was almost a second and a half under his index.
The class racers are serious, they definitely brought their A-game. It took a pass of -.612 under the index to get into the Super Stock Top 128, while on the Stock Eliminator side, it took a run of -.799 under the index to get inside the top 128.
The Top 10 qualifiers in each class are listed below.
