DragChamp Top 10 List 7/31/19 Edition
Welcome to the DragChamp sportsman drag racing Top 10 List presented by In Motion Solutions.
7/31/19 – The DragChamp Top 10 List continues to showcase the best performances in sportsman drag racing each week. To make the list requires a dominating performance and in most cases, multiple wins in the same weekend.
Sportsman racers chased trophies at a number of events last weekend including the NHRA Sonoma Nationals, Big Bucks racing at Keystone Raceway, Byron Dragway, the NHRA Division 5 Lucas Oil Double-header at Topeka, and many more local events across the country.

Our purpose at DragChamp is to celebrate sportsman racing and the weekend warrior. We created the Top 10 List to provide increased media attention to sportsman racers when they perform at a high level.

1 – Chris Bear

After a wildly successful SFG 500 race last month, Chris Bear went off again at Keystone Raceway Park last weekend. At the SFG 500, Bear defeated Gage Burch in the Thursday $50K final. He then raced down to the semifinals at the delayed Friday $50K before falling to eventual winner Nick Hastings.
Chris carried that momentum to Keystone over the weekend and walked away with two $15K wins. Much like he did at the SFG 500, Chris drove two distinctly different rides to success. He first won in his dragster at KRP and followed with a win in his S-10 pickup.
Those amazing performances landed Chris in the top spot this week.
2 – Chad Axford

In the last 10 days, Axford has won over 50+ rounds in his wheel-standing Nova have been in five finals. Oh, and did I mention he ran himself in one of those finals?
It’s been a pretty good 10 days for Chad as he’s found his groove. The run started with a 16 round win streak at Clarksville Speedway when he double-entered No Box and took both entries to the final round.
He moved to Bowling Green where he picked up a semi in Pro and a runner up in Super Pro. A week later he goes back to the winner’s circle at Clarksville collecting the No Box win over Blake Richardson.
He grabbed another semi in Pro on Sunday along with a runner up in Super Pro.
3 – Jon Irving

Division 7 Class racer Jon Irving had a week to remember at Sonoma Raceway. His run started at the Division 7 Lucas Oil double-header a week ago. There he made the final round in both Stock and Super Stock.
Irving took the win in Super Stock and runner up in Stock at the LODRS event. In a rare occurrence, Jon faced the same competitor in both finals, Ryan Mangus.
Fast forward a week to the NHRA Sonoma Nationals and Irving made his way to his third final round in just over a week. Although he would fall to Kyle Rizzoli in the Super Stock final, Irving solidified his spot on the list with his three straight final round appearances.
4 – Jerome Beaulieu

Canadian racer Beaulieu has been impressive over the last two weeks. In the five races he’s entered, he made the final round in four of those events. Beaulieu split the finals picking up two wins and two runner up finishes.
His first win came in the Top Dragster class at the NHRA National Open at Napierville Dragway. In the same event, he was runner up in the Super Pro class. A week later at Mont-Joli Dragway, Beaulieu earned another win and a runner up in Super Pro.

5 – Ryan Mangus

As stated earlier, Mangus made the finals in both Stock and Super Stock at the NHRA Division 7 Lucas Oil event at Sonoma Raceway. Mangus split the finals winning Stock and taking runner up honors in Super Stock.
Ryan’s success over the last couple of years has elevated him to one of the top racers on the West Coast.
6 – Mike Mans

Mans had a big weekend at the Division 5 Lucas Oil double-header at Topeka last weekend. Driving his beautiful Super Stock Trans Am, Mans kicked off the weekend with a runner up on Friday. That was followed by a win on Sunday over Jacob Pitt.
7 – Nick Craig

A few weeks ago Nick earned a $10K win at the Quaker City Big Buck Nationals. Over the weekend, Nick added another big money win to his collection taking home a $15K win at Keystone Raceway Park.
8 – Matt Dadas

Recently made famous for loaning his Danger Ranger to Gage Burch at the SFG 500, Dadas proved he is more than a winning car owner. Dadas entered his Mopar in the Monster Mopar Weekend at Summit Motorsports Park and never lost a round.
Matt won the Gamblers race on Friday, was in the Pro final on Saturday when the race came, and won Pro on Sunday.
9 – Corey Butler

Racing at Coles County Dragway, Corey Butler won three straight weeks in the Pro class. The most recent win came at the Papa Zinn Memorial race which paid $3,500 to win.
10 – Lorenz Schwarz

Schwarz followed up his Pro class win at the Division 6 Lucas Oil event at Mission Raceway with a double over the weekend. Schwarz swept the Pro class over the weekend claiming two $3K victories at Nitro Motorsports Park in Prince George, B.C.

Shout Outs
As always, there’s a couple of racers that just miss the list but deserve some recognition. Here’s our shout outs for this week.
Addyson Owen – I watched this junior racer run over the field at the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular at Xtreme Raceway over the weekend. Addy won the Jr. Dragster class on Saturday and just missed the double on Sunday when she turned it red in the final. Her dad mentioned she had also doubled up the previous week in the street class.

Jay Oakley – Jay won the JEGS Super Quick race at Kil Kare Dragway which locked up the Super Quick championship. The championship was extra special after his dad had won it 16 years earlier.

Grant Zimmerman – Grant raced his No Box Mustang to a $2,500 Super Pro win on Saturday. He followed that with a runner up in Super Pro in Sunday’s $5K race.

Tell us what you think, did we get it right? Did we miss someone? We want to hear from you. Check us out on Facebook, share it with your friends. Let’s celebrate the success of these racers.
