Welcome to the DragChamp sportsman drag racing Top 10 List presented by In Motion Solutions.
8/14/19 – The DragChamp Top 10 List continues to showcase the best performances in sportsman drag racing each week. To make the list requires a dominating performance and in most cases, multiple wins in the same weekend.
Our purpose at DragChamp is to celebrate sportsman racing and the weekend warrior. We created the Top 10 List to provide increased media attention to sportsman racers when they perform at a high level.

1 – Megan Lotts
Megan became the first female main event winner at an SFG Promotions race. She claimed the $50,000 main event win on Friday at Dragway 42. Megan defeated Chris Koslek in the history-making final round.
Here’s a video of the final round from the Motormania live feed.
2 – Dan Lafferty
Lafferty put on a show at the Night of Fire at Firebird Raceway. Dan started the weekend with a win on Friday in Super Pro. He followed that with a win in the consolation race on Saturday.
Things got interesting on Sunday as he squared off in the Super Pro final with Parker Theobald. The $5K final would also determine the overall weekend points title. Lafferty won giving him the big check and the overall points title by 1 point over Theobald.
3 – Chad Axford
Axford has been on a huge run over the last month or two racking up wins and final round appearances every week. Chad’s latest triumph came at Music City Raceway. He took two entries down to five cars eventually taking the $5K win. Find more on Chad’s recent success here and here.
4 – Jeremy Kessler
If you win $50K or more, you earn a spot on the list and that’s exactly what Jeremy Kessler did at the SFG Buckeye Bracket Bash on Saturday. Kessler claimed the $75,000 win and prevented CJ Drake from going back-to-back at the event.
5 – Steve Lenig
Steve Lenig had a huge weekend at Beaver Springs Dragway claiming four wins in four finals. Lenig won Friday night in his roadster, Saturday night in his dragster, and then won in both cars on Sunday. Now that’s a DragChamp kind of performance!
6 – Chris Koslek
Chris had a big weekend at Dragway 42 for the SFG Buckeye Bracket Bash. The weekend started on Thursday when he got down to 10 cars. He followed that with a runner up to Megan Lotts in Friday’s $50K and a semifinal finish in Saturday’s $75K.
7 – Brandon Umberger
Umberger, racing at the Night of Fire at Firebird Raceway, went to the semifinals on Thursday, the final on Friday, and won on Sunday. That performance earned him the overall points title for the 2nd year in a row!
8 – Mike Donell
Mike Donell showed up on Sunday at the SFG Buckeye Bracket Bash and rolled his Monza straight into the winners circle. Donell defeated Chris Mancini to capture the $25K win.
9 – Parker Theobald
Parker had a great weekend at the Night of Fire in Boise. On Saturday he earned the $10,000 win and followed with a runner up in Sunday’s $5K to Dan Lafferty.
Parker also came within one point of earning the overall points title for the weekend. Saturday’s win was Parker’s second $10K event win in the last few months.
10 – Chris Mancini
Mancini had an eventful weekend where he would make two finals at two different racetracks. On Friday night, Mancini made the final at Quaker City where his .013 total came up .002-second short.
After a few hours of sleep, he headed to Dragway 42 where he finished the weekend with another runner up effort. This time it was a $25,000 final round. Mancini came up just a little short again, this time by .0009 to Mike Donell.
We have a number of shout outs this week as a number of racers just missed the list.
Jake Howard & Chad Sandlin – These two have all but owned big dollar No Box racing in Texas this year. They both picked up $4K No Box wins this weekend at the Hot August Nights at Pine Valley Raceway.
Hot August Nights Semifinal Double entries – Several racers drove two entries to the semifinals at the Hot August Nights. On Friday, both Cory Gulitti and Donny Burleson had two entries at four cars. They skipped the semi’s and raced for the $5K check.
Charlie Lockhart and Cameron Fulfer also had two entries in the No Box semifinals on Friday and Saturday respectively. Both eventually fell in the finals.
Maddie Smith earned a huge $2,500 Jr. Dragster win at the Texas Motorplex on Saturday night.
Braden Bowden doubled up in Jr. Dragster at the Midwest Junior series at Byron Dragway.
Jacob Decker won twice over the weekend. First he claimed an entry into the $100K shootout at the Derby City $100K. He followed that up with a win in the Pro class on Sunday.
Barry Davis cleaned up at the Free $5K race at Baileyton “Goodtime” Raceway. Davis won the Footbrake class which earned him a spot in the quarterfinals of Top ET. Davis proceeded to demolish the field to claim the $5K win and a $500 Footbrake bonus.
Mandi DeLarec rescued the sweetest pup a month or so ago and named him Wally because it was “the only way she’d ever get a Wally”. She earned her first Wally in Pro ET at Norwalk’s Night Under Fire, the biggest one-day show on the planet, after Bob Motz burned the sign to the ground.
Baylee Mize had her 16th birthday on Wednesday and won Super Pro on Saturday at Knoxville Dragstrip.
