Glenn Ferguson and Chris Scarlata earn $20,000 paydays at the Loose Rocker Racer Tees American Doorslammer Nationals at Piedmont Dragway.
JULIAN, NC – The 8th Annual Racer Tees American Doorslammer Nationals rolled into Piedmont Dragway Nov. 22-24. The event, presented by McCarty Auto Parts, was the penultimate event on the 2019 Loose Rocker Promotions tour.
In addition, the race was the first of two consecutive Loose Rocker events at Piedmont. The next race on the schedule is the Fall Footbrake Frenzy XI held Nov. 29 – Dec 1.
Although weather issues wreaked havoc on the race schedule, eventually washing out Saturday’s activities, the event was completed in it’s entirety. Racers were welcomed with a beautiful day of racing on Friday. The weather not only affected the schedule, it forced the Loose Rocker team to change from a 10K/20K/10K schedule to two $20K races.
Friday ATI Performance $20,000 Race Results
Former IHRA World Champion, Glenn Ferguson, outlasted a stout field and the challenge of Loose Rocker’s most prolific top bulb performer, Shawn Carpenter, in the final round.
Ferguson used a reaction time advantage to shut the door on Carpenter’s dead zero effort to earn the $20,000 Big Check and Eagle trophy. Ferguson’s big win came on the first day of the Racer Tees American Doorslammer Nationals presented by McCarty Auto Parts.
Richard Alford and David Stebner were the semifinalists.
Sunday Abruzzi/Summit Racing $20,000 Race Results
Chris Scarlata and Ben Haight put on a show in the Abruzzi/Summit $20K Finale at the Racer Tees American Doorslammer Nationals presented by McCarty Auto Parts. The pair remained double-entered in a shared ride, Haight’s Camaro, until the semifinals.
Tim Thomas stopped Haight in the semifinals to deny the team final. Scarlata pushed out Clayton Roberts’ 5.0-second rocket-ship in the other semifinal match-up.
In the final round, Scarlata took the win light over Thomas to hoist the Loose Rocker Eagle trophy and the pair of Big Checks.
