JBR Wins 2nd Straight at 4th of July Under the Lights

Johnny Ezell won for the second straight night at the 4th of July Under the Lights bracket race at the Texas Motorplex.

ENNIS, TX – The gates opened at the Texas Motorplex Friday afternoon for the first main event of the 4th of July Under The Lights race. After Johnny “Bracket Racer” Ezell claimed the $50,000 Shootout win, racers were ready to face off for $15,000 in Box and $7,500 in the No Box class.

After winning the 4th of July $50,000 shootout, Johnny “Bracket Racer” Ezell continued to turn on win lights during Friday’s main event. After David “Bird” Jones turned it red in the semi-final round, JBR faced Heath Fountain in the final round.

Both drivers were .002 leaving the starting line but Fountain broke out by .002 giving the win to JBR. This marks yet another big race win in Ezell’s young career and his third final round appearance in less than a week.

In the No Box class Robby Mullins was knocking the bottom out of the tree. After being .002 in the semifinals against Dustin Henry and .009 in the final round against Jeremy Falkenbach, Mullins was able to pick up the $7,500 Big Check at the Texas Motorplex.

The gates open at noon Saturday and new time runs begin at 5 PM. Racers will have their second chance of the weekend to race for $15,000 off the top and $7,500 off the bottom at the Texas Motorplex.
