Johnny Ezell Strikes First at Texas Triple Tens
Just a week after winning $30,000 at the Spring Fling Million in Las Vegas, Johnny Ezell collected the $10,000 win on Friday at the Texas Triple Tens.
The Texas Triple Tens kicked off three days of racing at the Texas Motorplex with beautiful weather and a day full of great racing. Racers from around the country came to race for $10,000 in Box and $5,000 in No Box in hopes of writing their name on Friday’s Big Check.

No Box
With 70 entries, No Box racers came to play for the $5,000 Big Check up for grabs on Friday. Last year’s Million Dollar runner-up and talented young driver Cory Gulitti proved it doesn’t matter the class as he wheeled his S-10 all the way to the quarter finals in No Box.
Blair McNutt defeated Jake Howard in the Quarter Finals of No Box and secured herself a bye run into the final round where she would face Jeff Hefler or Jim Cornett.
Jim Cornett knocked the bottom out of the tree with a .003 light and was able to drive the stripe to advance to the final round. When all was said and done, Blair McNutt was able to seal the deal and take home the first No Box $5,000 Big Check.

Box
With 160 entries, Box racers from around the country traveled for a chance to become $10,000 richer. After Billy Simpson laid down a perfect run first round, we knew competition was going to be tough in the box class.
Simpson made it to the Quarter Finals where he was defeated by Hunter “Hunny Wayne” Patton. Patton met up with Danny Ray Martinez in the Semi Finals and Johnny “Bracket Racer” Ezell secured the bye to the finals when he defeated Koy Collier in the Quarters.
The final round was decided by .004 at the stripe as Johnny “Bracket Racer” and 2017 Million Dollar Winner was behind .002 at the starting line but went dead on with a zero to take the win.
Ezell not only took home the first $10,000 of the weekend he also received a $1,000 bonus because he ran the Spring Fling Million and then won at Texas Triple Tens.
