Midwest Bracket Racing – Working on the Weekend
Ryan Fasano provides the Midwest Bracket Racing update from the Labor Day weekend.
The annual U.S. Bracket Nationals were held this past weekend at Byron Dragway. The event featured 3 days of bracket action consisting of a $2,500 to win race on Saturday followed by a pair of $5,000 races to win Sunday and Monday. While the rain did show up this weekend, the racing was for once not effected, much.

Saturday Race Results

Saturday’s story line was an amazing one for the Loeffelholz family out of Minnesota. In the Box semifinal Kyle Loeffelholz took on Brad Baker with Baker taking the win moving him into the final against Kyle’s father Gary.
Gary Loeffelhoz, the owner of G&S Dyno and Chassis, had the bye to the final thanks to his stellar light. Gary and Brad squared off in the Box final with Brad dialed in in the mid 4.50’s in a beautiful American dragster and Gary dialed in the low 4.60’s in his show quality Top Sportsman style Mustang.

Gary moved on to run Jenna Jahnke, the No Box winner. Jenna took out Nathan Koffke in the No Box Final. Jenna will soon have Loeffelholz on the side of her Mustang as she is set to take a walk down the aisle next to Gary’s son Reno in October 2019, congrats!!
Gary used a .019 and a dead on nine run to overcome his future daughter in-law’s .017 and two over run to take the combo final.
Sunday Race Results

Sunday’s main event pitted a pair of past champions. 2017 overall track champion and multi-time big buck race winner Scott Labudde versus past champion, king of the track winner, and a former driver of the year award winner Troy Bogner.
Scott representing the Box side in his Cameron dragster and Troy coming from the No Box side in his 1968 Camaro. In the final, Scott used a slight advantage on the tree to take the win by just four thousandths of a second.
Troy was .011 over the dial and Scott was .012 over his dial making the very slight advantage on the tree the difference. The win also vaulted Scott into the overall track points lead heading into the final points weekend in October.
Monday Race Results

Ironically, Labor Day is when the real work happened. The track crew was faced with a monumental quarter mile long oil down just after round one completed.
When the work was over and racing action was back on track, Josh Genske and Mitch Vincent, who are both used to being in final rounds, were the two lone Box cars, well technically dragsters left on the grounds.

Josh had the advantage on the tree and took his dragster to yet another combo final. On the No Box side, Torry Williams in his beautiful Chevy Nova squared up with Kamryn “Money” Mason in the pink Chevy Camaro.
Kamryn previously won a $30,000 race at Byron Dragway earlier this year, she is as tough as they come! Torry did his job and got the win over tough customer Kamryn sending him to the overall combo final against Josh Genske.
In the final, Torry had the slight advantage on the tree and went dead on six to take the win over Josh who was one over seemingly on the drop. One last race in October will decide all the points championships.
