No Box Bonanza Champions Crowned at Norwalk

Matt Dadas, Niki Thomas, and Jason Ford were the big winners at the 22nd Annual No Box Bonanza held at Summit Motorsports Park Sept. 27-29.

NORWALK, OH – Over 400 No Box racers entered the 22nd Annual No Box Bonanza at Summit Motorsports Park. At the end of the three-day race weekend, Matt Dadas, Niki Thomas, and Jason Ford were holding the big checks.

The No Box Bonanza is one of the largest No Box races of the season. Each year, hundreds of racers flock to Norwalk for a chance at glory. With the large fields, it typically takes 9 or 10 win lights to find victory lane.

This season included something special as Saturday’s $20,000 winners purse was the largest purse ever offered at the prestigious event.

Friday Race Results

The opening day of the No Box Bonanza offered racers a $7,500 payday. In the final Matt Dadas drove his ’82 Camaro past the ’80 Volare of Michael Beard.

Beard turned it -.002 red to hand the $7,500 check to Dadas. The win added to an already amazing summer for Dadas. His Ranger, driven by Gage Burch, won the SFG 500 and Matt was runner up in the Fall Fling 500K main event a week ago.

Saturday Race Results

The No Box Bonanza kicked it up a notch on Saturday offering racers the largest payout ever at the event. Jason Ford claimed the huge $20,000 payday after defeating Tom Aretakis Jr. in the final round.

Ford, driving his ’72 Vega, was .014 and .011 above to claim the historic victory over Aretakis’ .022 and .013 above.

Sunday Race Results

Day number last at the No Box Bonanza saw Niki Thomas take the $10,000 win over Nick Scheckelhoff. Niki used a .040 light and a .01 over 6.138 from her S-10 pickup to take out Scheckelhoff’s .034 and .02 above 6.846.

Niki was coming off a huge IHRA Division 3 Summit Team Finals victory a week earlier. The No Box Bonanza capped off a huge week for the talented No Box racer.
