Richardson Boyz Dominate Dream Team Challenge

The Richardson Family dominated the Dream Team Challenge at the Great American Bracket Race winning the Top Bulb and Footbrake classes.

MEMPHIS – The Great American Bracket Race/Dream Team Challenge returned to Memphis International Raceway Memorial Day weekend for the second year in a row.

Friday Results

Saturday began by finishing up Friday’s Main Event. Due to some unfortunate oil downs, that caused prolonged downtime, Friday’s finals were moved to Saturday morning. The day started with third round and ultimately Curt Harvey, who is coming off his double wins at the Texas Triple Tens last weekend, secured the first check of the Great American Bracket Race.

Harvey defeated Blake McNabb making the final round of Top Bulb in an all Texas final. In the Footbrake class Mike Payne took Friday’s Big American Flag Check in his beautiful Chevy II as he defeated Wesley Lockhart in the final round. Lockhart made the finals at the GABR for the second straight year.

After completion of Friday’s Main Event it was time for the race that everyone had been waiting for, the 2019 Dream Team Challenge. Team captains brought five of their best drivers to field each dream team and race for the large purse and bragging rights.

The field consisted of 32 Top Bulb, 20 Footbrake, and 13 Jr. Dragster teams that traveled from around the country to compete at Memphis International Raceway. Each team was there to prove they were the ultimate Dream Team of bracket racing.

After fighting their way through the Top Bulb and Footbrake field, Blake Richardson’s team completed the sweep at this year’s Dream Team Challenge. Richardson’s team consisted of Austin Richardson, Edmond Richardson, Scotty Richardson, and Brad Plourd.

They put on a great showing proving they are the ultimate Dream Team of bracket racing in Top Bulb and Footbrake. The Dream Team Challenge wasn’t just for the adults as race promoters Britt Cummings and Gaylon Rolison Jr. also support the future of drag racing by offering a Jr. Dragster Dream Team Challenge.

After defeating teams from around the country, team Ben Willis were crowned the Jr. Dragster Champions. Seeing the excitement of the parents and the happiness that the kids displayed proved this event is more than just a race. It creates memories and experiences that racers will never forget.

Sunday Preview

Look for more race results on DragChamp as the Sunday schedule includes $20K Top Bulb and $10K Footbrake bracket races. Sunday evening also brings the much anticipated and entertaining GABR golf cart race.
