Gary Simpers Jr. doubles up at the Maple Grove Door Wars winning $10K on Friday and Saturday.
MOHNTON, PA – The 3rd Annual Door Wars took place October 4-6, 2019 at Maple Grove Raceway. The Footbrake only event featured three $10,000 to win races on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and two $2,000 to win Gambler’s races on Friday and Saturday night.
A racers appreciation pit party took place Thursday night and a dinner was served on Saturday night for all participants.

Friday $10K Results
Gary Simpers Jr. took home the first $10,000 win of the weekend over Austin Youndt. Simpers was .007 and ran a 5.590 on a 5.58 dial over Youndt who missed the tree but was dead two picking up the runner-up.
In the semi-final round Simpers defeated Kevin Mendenhall and Youndt had the bye to the final.
Friday Gamblers Race Results
The Friday night gamblers race brought in 87 drivers to battle it out for the $2,000 cash prize. But unfortunately, the race was called at 11 cars, and the remaining drivers took home $320 each.
Saturday $10K Results
Friday’s winner Gary Simpers Jr. decided he wasn’t done and picked up the Saturday $10,000 cash prize over Brit Schlichtig in the Camaro. Simpers had the advantage on the starting line and ran a 5.618 on a 5.59 dial getting the win over Schlichtig’s break out.
Semifinalists included Matt Obertanec and Denny Maclosky, who also won the best appearing car award.
Sunday $10K Results
Rain unfortunately came into play during second round of Sunday’s $10,000 race. The race was called around 1:40pm due to weather.
