The first ever BTE King of the Coast Turkey Beach Bash was a huge success with a number of racers walking away with big paydays!
GULFPORT, MS – The BTE King of the Coast bracket racing series held it’s first ever Turkey Beach Bash bracket race Nov. 15-17 at Gulfport Dragway. Racer promoter Gaylon Rolison Jr. put on a hell of an event once again.
The big dollar bracket race attracted over 275 racers to the Gulf Coast for a shot at four $10,000 to win races over three days. After a slight schedule change Saturday morning, racers were greeted with the opportunity to race for $20,000 to win. Races #2 and #3 were combined to make it $20K to win on Saturday.
Some of the biggest names in bracket racing showed out at the Turkey Beach Bash with Johnny “JBR” Ezell, Elie McGee, and Allen Wickell all claiming big wins on the weekend. The runner-ups were just as noteworthy as Lucas Walker, Rick Baehr, and Chris Jones made final rounds at the event.
Turkey Beach Bash Final Race Results
Friday $10K Race Results
Johnny Ezell took home another $10K payday after defeating Lucas Walker in the final round. Both left .00x in the final with Ezell taking the win after Walker got on the brakes a little early. In addition, Walker was swapping feet in his Mustang!
Saturday $20K Race Results
The Saturday $20K didn’t disappoint as the final round was a battle between the fastest car on the property and a footbrake racer. Elie McGee brought his 4.1x second dragster to the final to square off with footbrake racer Slick Rick Baehr.
Once again, both racers were .00x and this time both were one above. Elie McGee claimed the big win when he eclipsed Baehr by .006 at the stripe!
Sunday $10K Race Results
In the first dragster vs. dragster final of the weekend, Allen Wickell claimed the final $10K check of the weekend when he defeated Chris “Boy Baby” Jones by .003 in the final round.
Friday runner-up Lucas Walker had another big day as he ran himself in the No-Box final before bowing out at five cars in the Top Bulb class.
Saturday Shootout Results
In addition to all of the big money bracket racing, there was a special shootout on Saturday for a $3,000 entry into the Great American Guaranteed Million race on Memorial Day 2020.
Adam Russell earned the win and the entry in the Guaranteed Million!
A Big Thank You!
Gaylon posted the following message to racers and sponsors on Facebook.
I wanted to take the time to reflect on the Inaugural BTE KOC Series Presented by David McMurtry Racing Engines Turkey Beach Bash At Gulfport Dragway this past weekend.
First and foremost a heart felt thank you to all of the racers that participated in the Turkey Beach Bash. Saturday the event topped out at 277 entries. Most likely the most ever At Gulfport Dragway for an bracket racing event.
I understand the racers are more than just racers. Racers are customers. I take that seriously with every event I am associated with. Without customers there is no event. It is really that simple.
Additionally a big thank you to Gulfport Dragway for hosting the KOC Turkey Beach Bash along with all the 2019 KOC Events. The staff of Gulfport Dragway, especially Jeffery August, worked their tails off all weekend. Their efforts did not or will not go unrecognized.
Thank you to all the sponsors of the KOC Series.
