DragChamp Top 10 List – 11/6/19 Edition

11/6/19 – The only weekly sportsman racing Top 10 List is back for another edition. A week after the Million in Montgomery, bracket racers headed to the Southern Footbrake Challenge and the SFG World Series of Bracket Racing. NHRA racers were in Vegas for the Dodge NHRA Nationals.

DragChamp Top 10 List – 10/16/19

1 – Mikey Bloomfield

Mikey Bloomfield wins 200K SFG World Series

When you win $200,000 you end up in the one spot! Mikey had a hell of a weekend at the SFG World Series of Bracket Racing when he collected the $200K main event win on Saturday. The win comes on the heels of his teammate Tyler Bohannon‘s $30K win the previous week at the Million.

It’s been a good week for the Bloomfield team!

2 – Jordan Wilhelm

Jordan Wilhelm showed out at the Southern Footbrake Challenge at Holly Springs. Over the three-day weekend racing against the best footbraker’s in the South, Jordan made three final round appearances.

He made the finals in two $2,000 Gamblers races and a $10,000 final. Super impressive weekend for sure.

3 – Vernon Rowland

2019 has been a special year for Oklahoma-based Super class racer Vernon Rowland. He opened the season with a national event win in Super Comp at the Spring Nationals in Houston. He then won Super Gas at the Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd.

After two finals and two wins, he wasn’t done. He made the Super Gas final at the AAA Midwest Nationals and then rolled to the Super Comp win last week in Vegas. He defeated sportsman icon Dan Fletcher in the Vegas final with an .011 dead zero lap!

4 – Chris Knudsen

Another NHRA racer that’s having a breakout season in Chris Knudsen. Driving his stick-shifted ’69 Camaro Stocker, Chris won the Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd, was runner up at the AAA Midwest Nationals, and was runner up again at the Dodge NHRA Nationals last weekend.

5 – Randy Scheuer Jr.

Randy Scheuer Jr wins 50K Sunday at SFG World Series

If you win $50,000, you make the list and Randy Scheuer won $50K! Randy collected the big win on Sunday at the SFG World Series. The win adds to an impressive win total that he and teammate Chris Bear have collected this season.

6 – Southern Footbrake Challenge Winners

In addition to the previously mentioned Jordan Wilhelm, a number of racers joined him in dominating the Southern Footbrake Challenge. Check this out!

  • Brad Plourd – $10K main event win and $2K Gamblers runner up
  • Charlie Lockhart – $10K main event win and $10K semifinal
  • Edmond Ellison – $2K Gamblers win and $10K runner up
  • Wesley Lockhart – Semifinals at both $10K main events

7 – Chris Dixon

Chris Dixon drove his small-tire Nova to a runner up finish in the SFG World Series of Bracket Racing $200K main event. Driving a car that has been in his family since he was 5 years old, Chris just missed the tree in the final leaving -.007 too soon. Although he came up short, he enjoyed a nice payday for his efforts.

8 – Ray Miller 3

Ray Ray continues to dominate the NHRA Super classes. While most of his success has been on the Lucas Oil Divisional series this year, Ray Ray went off in the Super Gas final at the Dodge NHRA Nationals. In an epic final against Evan Kowalski, Miller threw down a .004-pack to hold off Kowalski’s .008-pack!

9 – Will Holloman

Will Holloman wins dragster at World Series

Will Holloman claimed the first big prize of the weekend at the SFG World Series when he took home the free Amercian Race Cars dragster. The free-entry race was reserved to the 90 racers who had attended every SFG race in 2019. In the end, Holloman was the proud owner of a $65,000 dragster.

10 – Kyle Seipel

Big Nasty Practice Tree Shootout and Raffle

Big Nasty created a media frenzy recently when he announced his cancer had returned. Racers across the country immediately came together in support of a great man. There are a number of benefits going on to help Kyle and his family with their medical expenses.

One of which is the Big Nasty Practice Tree Shootout and Benefit Raffle that the Theobald family is hosting. The Practice Tree Shootout is Friday night at their trailer at the D7 Divisional race at LVMS. You can enter the raffle through Sunday. Click on the link above for more info.

Cody Lane – After winning Stock at the Arizona Nationals, Cody drove the family Cobalt to the Comp win at Vegas.

Jason DeForrest – Avenged his runner up finish at the Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd with a Super Stock win at the Vegas Nationals.

Chris Mancini – Took a brand new car to the final round on the first outing at Pacemakers Dragway! He also had a semifinal finish and was still alive when the rain hit on Saturday.

Gage Blevins – This young man has won practically everything this year. He won the Division 3 Championship, the Eastern Conference Finals, and took first place in the Midwest Jr. Series.
