John DiBartolomeo wins the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk for the second consecutive year.
NORWALK, OH – John DiBartolomeo drove his SS/BS ’86 Camaro to the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals win for the second year in a row. Competing at the rescheduled event, John relied on his trusty Camaro to earn his seventh national event Wally.
DiBartolomeo, the Editorial Director for Drag Racing Edge magazine, opened eliminations with four-straight 9.33 laps. While his reactions were solid, his car was phenomenal throughout the six round race.
After posting a dead-on 9.330 in the first round, DiBartolomeo won a double-breakout race with Allen Wade by .006-second. In round three, John was .031 dead eight to outrun Aaron Allison.
With a bye to the final on the line, DiBartolomeo posted his best lap of the event in his round four encounter with red-hot Ricky Decker. John was .023 and dead eight to Decker’s .052 dead seven. This moved John into his second straight final at the famed Norwalk facility.
Class veteran Keith Lynch made his way to the final round after taking out an A-list of hitters including Zach Running, Dan Fletcher, and Mike Cotten. Like DiBartolomeo, Lynch ran dead zero to his dial in round one.
In the final round, Lynch left second .058 to .052, and took .027 at the stripe to go -.018 under his dial. John posted a 9.385 on his 9.37 dial-in to claim the win and his second ice cream scoop trophy in the last two years.
