Jason DeForrest wins Super Stock at Dodge Nationals
Jason DeForrest claimed his first national event win of the season at the Dodge NHRA nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
LAS VEGAS – Super Stock racer Jason DeForrest raced his way to his first national event win of the 2019 season at The Strip in the famous Las Vegas area. DeForrest defeated Matt Alvey who turned it red in the final giving him the automatic win. His victory moved him up to eighth place in national point’s standings.

Prior to his latest victory, DeForrest also took home the win at the NHRA Division 5 event in Brainerd, Minnesota. The next week, DeForrest almost sealed the deal again in Brainerd at the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals but took too much stripe in the final to break out by .011, giving Brett Speer the win.
At the Dodge NHRA Nationals, DeForrest had it easy in the first two rounds of eliminations having competition byes for both of them. The ladder fell where he was given a bye first round and his second round his opponent, Mark Alvey, was a no show. DeForrest made two easy runs down the Strip to advance to the third round.

DeForrest lined up against Bob Cruzen next. Cruzen had the advantage on the tree, .014 to an .041, but took too much stripe and broke out by .013, giving DeForrest the win who has .012 over his dial-in.
DeForrest got by a close one at nine cars left in eliminations. Ryan McClanahan had the starting line advantage, .031 to an .053, but gave the stripe back to DeForrest by .001. DeForrest ran dead on the dial to take the win.
Jason’s win in the fourth round gave him the bye fifth round, taking him down to three cars. DeForrest cruised down the dragstrip to advance to the next round. In the semifinals, DeForrest cut a .020 light but his opponent, Todd Hoven, turned it pink by -.001 to give the automatic win to DeForrest.


DeForrest got to take a victory lap down the Strip in the final round after Alvey turned it -.006 red; DeForrest was -.002 red behind him! Alvey’s red-light would make DeForrest the event champion.
