Vic Penrod collected his second national event victory of the season and third overall at the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.
ENNIS, TX – Super Stock racer Vic Penrod extended his outstanding season by earning his second national event win of the year. Penrod defeated Aaron Stanfield in the NHRA Fall Nationals Super Stock final round. The win also moved Penrod into first place in the national points standings.
Prior to his latest victory, Penrod earned the Super Stock Wally at the Route 66 Nationals in Chicago. He followed this with a runner up at the NHRA Heartland Nationals and a win at the Topeka LODRS event. Those results catapulted him into the championship chase. With his latest victory, Penrod is now in the drivers seat in the race for the World Championship.
Penrod opened eliminations at the Texas Motorplex with easy wins over Staci Smith and Phillip Giles after both posted .100+ reactions. Joe Teuton grabbed a .043 to .068 reaction time advantage over Vic in round three but came up short at the stripe when his .044 over 8.644 couldn’t outrun Penrod’s dead-on 9.774.
In the fourth round Penrod was .033 take .011 to take out four-time world champ Greg Stanfield. This moved Vic into the semifinals where Rylee Stufflebeam turned it -.006 red.
Young gun Aaron Stanfield joined Penrod in the final round. Stanfield, a current Pro Stock competitor and Factory Stock tuner, let go -.014 too soon in the final to hand Penrod the win. Penrod was .020 at the tree and cruised to a 9.882 lap for the win.
