Chris Dodd wins Super Comp at Midwest Nationals

Chris Dodd earns his second big win of the season taking home the Super Comp title at the NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS – Chris Dodd added the AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals Super Comp title to his 2019 JEGS Allstars victory. The victory was his second in national event competition with both coming at World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis.

Dodd put on a clinic at the Midwest Nationals. The young Division 4 competitor was .00x in five of six rounds. He was also within .010 of the 8.90 index in every round excluding his 8.93 in round one.

His performance also came against some of the best racers in the class including back-to-back round wins over Luke Bogacki and Gary Stinnett.

Dodd’s path to the final started with a .006 victory round one victory over John Sikish. Chris was .00 take .00 to advance to round two. There he faced Kimbra Fuesting. After Kimbra turned it -.020 red, Chris threw down a .009-pack (.000 RT, 8.909 ET).

In a battle with class super star Luke Bogacki in round three, Dodd earned the win after Bogacki let go -.003 too soon. Dodd’s .009 light and 8.899 lap would have been tough either way.

This setup a round four clash with Gary Stinnett. Gary left first .011 to .022 but turned Dodd loose at the stripe to go .03 above. Dodd nailed the index running a 8.908 to advance past the 4x champ!

Jeremy Demers was .018 take .012 in the semifinals to come up short in a double breakout contest. Dodd’s .006 and -.003 under turned on the win light when Demers was -.027 under the 8.90 index.

Waiting for Dodd in the final was none other than 2019 U.S. Nationals champion Lynn Ellison. Ellison was making his second consecutive national event final round appearance. His 13 round win streak came to end when he let go -.004 too soon.

Once again Chris laid down a great lap beside his opponents redlight. In the final he was .007 and 8.910 to earn his second national event Wally.

Congrats to Chris Dodd and his dad Sean on their second big win of the season!
