Division 2 superstar Jonathan Anderson wrapped up yet another championship season taking the D2 Super Street title. Follow along as he recaps his successful 2019 racing season and prepares for 2020.
The NHRA racing season is officially over, and this may be long winded. It has been over for us since the middle of October when we had the last NHRA Division 2 points race. We have been working diligently getting ready for the 2020 season since the day we got home from Rockingham.
Anderson Finishes #3 in Super Comp
We managed to reach most of the goals that we set out for at the beginning of the 2019 season. There were definitely some ups and downs, but I am sure that goes with anyone. We traveled more than ever before and we ran our first full season of Super Comp (14 races).
After the final points tally we managed to finish 3rd in the National points standings, 3rd in Division 2, and we were only three crucial round wins away from winning a World Championship.
Those three rounds were lost to the 2019 Super Comp World Champion Ray Miller, who deserves a huge congratulations for his accomplishment. Ray is an amazing driver , who I am sure we will meet up with more next year. We ended up battling 5 times this year in 3 finals and 1 quarterfinal, and he got the best of me 3 out of the 5.
D2 Super Street Champ
In Super Street we managed to win the Division 2 Championship. It was a super tough battle with Jimmy Allen Daniel all year long. He kept sneaking off out of division and winning rounds and races, while all I could do is sit at home and watch, haha.
We only managed to put the Sunfire in the winner circle once, but we kept putting up solid performances. We will probably run the first couple of Super Street races next year, as we hope to debut the new Super Gas car by the Gatornationals.
A Team Effort
In every post I make about racing, I never take any of the credit. I always say “we” instead of “I”, because what we do is truly a team effort and everyone that supports me, really makes me look better than what I could ever be on my own.
None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for my wife, Melissa Anderson. She gives her support day in and day out, she helps in ways that most of the time I may not notice or take for granted. My Dad is always in our corner, giving advice and lending a helping hand at anytime but especially when it is most needed.
Donald Munford and Penny Nittolo have been very instrumental in the success of this team, it has been an absolute honor to represent you two on the track and in our communities. We also have a handful of people that are not only good friends, but we are able to pick their brains and gain valuable knowledge.
A huge thanks goes to two great friends Brad Plourd and Kevin Kleineweber, any win light that we manage to turn on, you two share some of the responsibility for it.
