Jeff Havens wins Top Dragster at Northwest Nationals

Jeff Havens claimed his first NHRA national event win taking the Top Dragster class win at the Northwest Nationals.

KENT, WASH. – Jeff Havens won his first NHRA national event in his second final round appearance on Sunday at Pacific Raceways. Havens defeated driving school instructor Thomas Bayer in the Top Dragster final round.

Bayer, competing in his 16th national event final, turned it red by -.002 in the final giving Havens a free ride to the winners circle. Havens opened eliminations with a perfect .000 reaction time against Sadie Glenn.

2019 Northwest Nationals Top Dragster Final

In round two, Havens used a .015 light and a .051 over 6.931 to move past Jennifer Wiens who ran .020 under her 6.38 dial-in. That setup a round three meeting with Brianna Wiens. Brianna let go -.004 too quick handing the win to Havens who posted a .012-pack for good measure.

In the semifinals, Haven used a .036 light and a .014 over 6.894 to turn back Gene Heaton’s .041 light and .023 over 6.993. The win moved Haven into his second final round where he won on Bayer’s red-light start.

Bayer won a number of ultra close races on the day but ultimately fell by those same few thousandth’s that previously fell his way.
