DragChamp Top 10 List – 12/4/19
1 – Kevin Pollard
Footbrake racing superstar Kevin Pollard outlasted a star-studded field at the Loose Rocker Fall Footbrake Frenzy to earn a $20,000 payday! Pollard, previously a two-time Loose Rocker runner-up, finally broke through for the big win.
In addition to the big check, Pollard took home the Iron Eagle trophy and the Best Engineered Car Award. Pollard defeated another successful footbrake racer, Edmond Ellison, in the final round.
2 – Mark Kidd
Mark Kidd had a huge weekend at the Thanksgiving Bracket Nationals in Las Vegas. Kidd took home the Pro class victory on Day 2 and Day 3. In addition to his success in Pro, Kidd also reached the semifinals in Super Pro. To wrap up the weekend, Mark scored a quarterfinal finish in the ultimate gamblers race.
3 – Kevin Heffington
Kevin Heffington also doubled up at the Thanksgiving Bracket Nationals in Vegas. Heffington drove Shane Thompson’s dragster to the $5,000 Super Pro win on Day 1. He returned a couple of days later for a repeat performance on Day 3.
4 – Cory Gulitti
Cory Gulitti wrapped up his 2019 season in fine fashion after collecting at $10,000 payday at the Texas Turkey Hunt at Houston Raceway. The young man almost ran himself in the finals after being doubled at three cars.
While he just missed owning both final round entries, he got it done in the final round when LeRoy O’Bryant turned it red. The win capped off another successful season for the young Texas racer.
5 – Andy Schmall
Andy Schmall continued his recent streak with a double final weekend at Las Vegas. Schmall drove to the Gamblers win on Day 2 and finished the weekend with a runner-up to Mark Kidd in Pro on Day 3. This comes on the heels of his recent win at the SFG Big Fun Event in Tucson.
6 – Justin Cervantes
When it comes to Texas No-Box racing, Justin Cervantes always seems to be in the mix. This weekend was no exception as Justin made his way to two finals at the Thanksgiving Throwdown at Big Country Raceway. Located in Abilene, TX, the 7th Annual event drew a crowd of heavy hitters in from the North Texas area.
Justin was runner-up on Day 1 to Chad Sandlin and finished the deal on Day 2 taking home the No-Box victory.
7 – Graeme Rufenacht
Jr. Dragster racer Graeme Rufenacht once again proved his might behind the wheel by making both finals on the weekend in Abilene. Graeme settled for runner-up honors on Day 1 but finished the deal on Day 2 with another big win.
In addition to his success this weekend, Graeme also earned two season championships this season competing in the Southwest Junior Series.
8 – Edmond Ellison
Edmond Ellison and Josh Green’s beautiful Chevy Deuce are a wicked combination. Edmond drove through a talented field at the Fall Footbrake Frenzy to meet Kevin Pollard in the $20K final. While he didn’t win, Edmond once again proved he’s one of the best footbrake racer’s in the country.
9 – Jake Howard
No surprise here. Another big money bracket race in Texas, another stellar outing for Jake Howard. This weekend, Jake took the Fireturd to the Thanksgiving Throwdown in Abilene where he footbraked to a runner-up finish in Super Pro. In addition, Jake won the Footbrake Shootout on Saturday night.
10 – Chad Sandlin
Like his brother from another mother, Jake Howard, Chad Sandlin was in the mix in Abilene. Chad drove the LUVmachine to a $3,000 Footbrake win at the Thanksgiving Throwdown. Sandlin’s win prevented a weekend sweep by the aforementioned Justin Cervantes.
Chad also raced his buddy Jake Howard in the Footbrake Shootout on Saturday night. He finished runner-up to the Fireturd to cap off yet another successful weekend.
