The 2nd annual Derby City $100K returned to Ohio Valley Dragway over the weekend where multiple racers took home baseball bats & big checks.
Race Derby City co-promoters, Tyler Bohannon and Brian Whitworth, continue to impress racers with their events and keep them coming back. Even with the threats of weather, they were able to complete the event on Sunday evening.
The event structure had to be changed up a little bit due to weather. Thursday consisted of a $5,000 to win plus a $100K entry gamblers race. The team ran the $20K on Friday, then decided to combine Saturday and Sunday’s $20K, making it $40K to win. The $100,000 64-car shootout was planned to run to completion on Saturday but had to be finished on Sunday morning due to rain stopping the show on Saturday evening.
Brian Folk defeated Jeff Neat in the final round on Thursday evening, taking home the $5,000 and the $100K entry.
Jeremy Bargo was the semi-finalist.
Aaron Disinger defeated Todd Senseney in the final round on Friday night to take the $20,000 check home to Indiana.
Shawn Langdon and Lester Adkins were the semi-finalists.
Matthew Blair defeated Cole Knieriem in the final round of junior dragsters.
The boys met again in the final round on Saturday, but the rain hit before they could finish. They split the money and celebrated together.
Lane Dicken and Tyler Smith were the semi-finalists.
In the last final of the weekend, Lane Dicken redeemed himself and defeated Jeremy Bargo to take home the $40K.
Rob Kropfeld and Tm Klopfenstein Jr. were the semi-finalists.
Congratulations to all the winners! Stay tuned to the Race Derby City Facebook page for their 2021 plans.
