CP Racing Promotions Under The Lights makes a stop at Pine Valley Raceway where Cory Gulitti cashes in for $30,000. Chad Sandlin and Drew Porcher wheel their trucks to winner’s circle in No-Box.
LUFKIN, TX – CP Racing Promotions brought their Under The Lights race to Pine Valley Raceway in Lufkin, Texas over the weekend. Originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday night races, rain rolled in on day one which created a double race event on Saturday.
The new schedule included a 10 am time run followed by race number one. Another time run was given before race number two which was finished “under the lights.” The Box class competed for two $15,000 to win races, while No-Box had two $7,500 to win races.
First Race Results
After many rounds of competition, the final round was between Chad Sandlin and Tim Ray. Sandlin came out on top, adding another big check to his collection. He also made a strong showing in the box class before pairing up beside Cory Gulitti at 16 cars.
For the first top bulb final of the day, two talented young guns staged up in an all dragster final. Landon Martinez, just one day shy of his 20th birthday, lines up against multi-time big money bracket race winner, Cory Gulitti. Martinez leaves .007 red handing the win over to Gulitti who is XX.
Second Race Results
Drew Porcher is no stranger to big money bottom bulb racing and faced Slade Brown in the finals of No Box. Brown had .004 advantage at the hit, but Porcher runs dead on his 6.24 dial in to get the job done. Porcher gets $7,500 and the big check to take home.
The last battle at Under The Lights was between two well known drivers, David Bird Jones and Cory Gulitti. In the $15,000 final round, Jones waited patiently as Cory Gulitti’s half track burnout smoke cleared. Gulitti was behind at the tree with his .013 light to Jones’ .002 reaction time. However, when Jones got behind at the stripe by .002, he handed Gulitti the broom used to sweep the weekend.
The next event for CP Racing Promotions is the Chubby 20K’s September 2-6 at Texas Motorplex. There will be a ton of racing action over the five day event including three $20,000 top bulb races and three $5,000 bottom bulb races. You can find all the information by clicking here.
