Hunny Wayne Dominates 2020 Windmill Nationals

Hunny Wayne, aka Hunter Patton, wins two straight at the 2020 Windmill Nationals to lead the talented group of winners at Ardmore Dragway.

Springer, Okla. – Ardmore Dragway’s 4th Annual Windmill Nationals became an overwhelming success after the track became one of the first to hold a drag race after COVID-19 restrictions were eased. The track welcomed 553 competitors from 11 states over the weekend for a historic event at the 1/8 mile facility.

The three-day race included a $2K Gamblers race on Friday along with two $5K races on Saturday and Sunday in Super Pro in No-Electronics. The event also included racing for Jr. dragsters, Jr. Street, and Sportsman classes. Beautiful weather greeted racers as they filled into the facility. The great weather allowed the Ardmore team to complete all three races even though racing was almost non-stop from Friday until late Sunday evening.

The big story of the weekend was Hunter Patton, his friends call him Hunny Wayne, of Houston, Texas. The 2019 Fall Fling 500K winner rolled through the Super Pro field on Friday and Saturday to claim the first two wins of the weekend. The Richardson family, based out of Tennessee, also claimed a couple of big wins as brothers Austin and Ryan won on Friday and Sunday respectively.
