Both Top Bulb and Bottom Bulb classes enjoyed the same great payouts for just a $99 entry. That entry was good for one, two, or three races! As usual, Gaylon Rolison and the BTE KOC team provided an exceptional purse for a low entry.

With abnormally low temperatures predicted throughout the weekend, the KOC team combined the three $5K’s in to two $7,500 races, one on Saturday and the second on Sunday. The entire three-race purse was split between the two $7,500 races.

Rain wins on Sunday

The weather was the big winner on Sunday as light rains hit around sunrise and continued throughout the day. Although the race flyer stated the $99 entry was good for either 1, 2, or 3 races during the weekend, the KOC staff made the call to refund $50 to every racer in attendance.

This mentality of putting the racer first is a hallmark of the BTE King of the Coast series making it one of the more popular local series in the country.

A Big Thanks!

Gaylon was quick to thank all the racers that supported the Ben Franklin 5K’s including event sponsors David McMurtry Racing Engines and Fine Line Signs and Graphics.

He was gracious for the wonderful hospitality displayed by the staff at Emerald Coast Dragway and Ryan Milliken.
