CP Racing Promotions brings big money bracket racing to the Texas Motorplex Sept 2-6 with the Chubby 20K’s. The event will feature three $20,000 to win races, a $10,000 race, and a $20,000 64-car shootout over the Labor Day weekend.
ENNIS, Tex. – CP Racing Promotions returns to the Texas Motorplex for the Chubby 20K’s big money bracket race September 2-6. After a successful Under the Lights race at the famed Texas facility in July, race promoter Cody Pollage upped the ante for the Labor Day event. The Chubby 20K’s is a five-day event which starts with a test and tune and 64-car shootouts on Wednesday and ends with a trio of $20,000 races to close out the holiday weekend.
CP Racing Promotions continues to carry the big money bracket racing banner in Texas and Louisiana with multiple events throughout the season. Pollage, along with his talented team that features Frank Kohutek and Paige Hamlin, have become the premier bracket racing promoters in the region. For more details on the Chubby 20K’s, see below.
The big money bracket racing weekend begins on Wednesday with a Test-n-Tune session prior to a $20,000 64-car Box Shootout and a $10,000 64-car No-Box Shootout. The Shootouts will not allow double entries and will not have buybacks. For a $450 Box entry racers will compete for $20,000 to win, $3,000 for runner-up, $1,000 for semifinals, and $500 for quarterfinals. A $275 No-Box entry will allow racers to compete for $10,000 to win, $2,000 for runner-up, $750 for semifinals, and $250 for quarterfinals.
After a huge day on Wednesday, racing continues on Thursday with $10,000 to win in the Box class and $2,000 to win in the No-Box class. Single day entries are $100 in Box and $75 in No-Box. Double entries are allowed in any form and first round buybacks are $100 in Box and $30 in No-Box.
Friday brings the first of three $20,000 to win races in the Box class. For a weekend entry of just $600, racers can compete for three $20,000 races. Single day entries are $300 per day while first round buybacks are $175 and double entries are allowed in any form. The Box purse is based on 150 car minimum each day. As standard at the CP Racing Promotions events, dragsters and door cars run separate for the first four rounds.
On the No-Box side, racers will compete Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for $5,000 to win each day. The weekend entry for the No-Box class is just $250 while single day entries are $125 each day. The No-Box purse is based on an 80 car minimum. Delay boxes must be removed to compete in No-Box although two-steps and transbrakes are allowed.
The 1/8 mile bracket race allows double entries in any form and dragsters and doorcars will run separately in the first four rounds. Thursday 1st round bye run is determined by the best reaction time in the last time trial. Friday/Saturday/Sunday 1st round bye is the previous day winner. All byes carry over and all other byes will be determined based on the previous rounds reaction times.
Racers who fell to make the third round can purchase last chance lotto tickets for $10 a piece for a chance to re-enter the third round of competition. One ticket will be drawn for each class.
