Maddie Malone and her Gold ’66 Chevy II win the DragChamp December Car of the Month Contest!
DragChamp ended 2019 with another round of great looking hot rods in the final the Car of the Month contest of the year. Ultimately, Maddie Malone and her ’66 Chevy II were chosen as DragChamp’s December Car of the Month winner.
Malone won a $50 Summit Racing Equipment gift card and a DragChamp shirt and decals for winning the Car of the Month contest.
Thanks to her father, Malone’s racing career began when she got behind the wheel of a Jr. dragster at the age of 13. She developed a love for the sport when she tagged along with her father and his racing buddies as a young child.
2019 was the first year where she traveled and competed in most of the SFG races as well as some local big money bracket races. She made her way to the semifinals a couple times at Huntsville’s Drive for $7,500’s but this year was a learning curve for her as well as her father. Thanks to her racing family she was able to compete by herself while her father was working out of the country.
In 2020, Maddie plans to continue bracket racing but also plans attend some NHRA divisional races. It’s something that she always wanted to do and has been a dream of hers. Malone’s parents support her racing endeavors and she said, “I can’t say thank you to them enough. Without them I wouldn’t be able to do what I love most or literally, live this dream life.”
Malone has raced her Gold ’66 Chevy II for three years after receiving the car for her 16th birthday. She cruises the 1/8th mile in the 5.70 range in the car her and her father built. Greg Blaydes at G&S constructed the chassis for the beautiful machine.
