Jeff Serra wins $1,000,000, Nasty Nick goes off in Memphis, Mike Boehner sweeps Super Gas in Phoenix, and Brandon Schmall dominates at Cedar Falls. Find it all in the The DragChamp Top 10 List!
10/14/20 – A week removed from the Spring Fling Million at Galot we rolled into Memphis for the Great American Guaranteed $1,000,000. For some racers, it was the third straight week on the road as the Fall Fling was just two weeks ago at Galot. Although rain pushed the Guaranteed $1,000,000 finals to Monday, the event produced some amazing stories. In addition to the GABR in Memphis, there was a doubleheader NHRA Division 7 Lucas Oil Series event in Phoenix, the Boo Banger at Kil-Kare, and the Door Wars at Maple Grove among others. Here’s this week’s sportsman drag racing Top 10 List.

DragChamp Top 10 List – 10/14/20
1 – Jeff Serra
This was a no-brainer. The Leprechaun Jeff Serra took down the Great American Guaranteed $1,000,000 on Monday to etch his name in the record books. Jeff drove a basically broken race car through the talented 450 field to claim the massive payday.
2 – Nasty Nick Hastings
Nasty Nick pulled off the unthinkable after footbraking his way to a semifinal finish at the Guaranteed $1,000,000. Nick made the final of every Footbrake race in Memphis last week. His performance on Monday earned him a huge six-figure payday.
3 (tie) – Mike Boehner
Mike Boehner locks down the three spot this week after doubling up at the NHRA Division 7 Lucas Oil Series doubleheader in Phoenix. Mike won Super Gas on Friday and Sunday and added a W.W. Williams Shootout victory on Saturday to complete the sweep. Read more from Mike’s cross-country trip to the U.S. Nationals here.
3 (tie) – Brandon Schmall
Brandon Schmall is quickly becoming a fixture on the Top 10 List as he continues to dominate bracket races across the midwest. Last weekend Brandon won Pro on Saturday and the runoff against the Super Pro winner. On Sunday, he double-entered Pro and took both entries to the final round!
4 – Peeps Pennington
Peeps Pennington doesn’t race every week like he used to but he sure does turn on winlights when he shows up. The 2019 Spring Fling Million champ rolled through the Great American $80K field on Thursday to claim the combined Thursday/Sunday big checks.
5 – Scotty Richardson
Just a week after winning the Spring Fling Million, Scotty Richardson came a few rounds short of the double in Memphis. Scotty drove his S-10 to six cars on Monday to come up just shy of another massive victory. His run the last two weeks was impressive to say the least.
6 – Paul Rich
Paul Rich struck first at the Great American Guaranteed Million capturing the Wednesday $40K in Memphis. Rich defeated Jeremy Jensen in the $40K final to grab his share of the huge prize pool.
7 – Cam Murray
Clambone drove his Mopar to a huge $20,000 payday at the Maple Grove 4th Annual Door Wars footbrake race over the weekend.
8 – Todd Senseney / Nick Folk / Will Holloman
With such a huge week of winners, we’d be remiss if we didn’t call out a few of the runner-ups. Todd Senseney came up .001 short in the Guaranteed $1,000,000 final round. Nick Folk was left off last week’s Top 10 List but earned a mention after his runner up in the Spring Fling Million. Holloman came up just short in the Great American $80,000 final which added to his recent hot streak.
9 – Gary Hampton
Gary Hampton secured his Top 10 spot after driving his 15-second Cavalier Stocker to the NHRA Division 7 Lucas Oil Series Stock Eliminator win in Phoenix on Sunday. Hampton took out a who’s who of Stock veterans to claim his first Wally including Mark Kirby, Ryan Mangus, Cody Lane, Jody Lang, and Steve Wann in the final. He was .000 at the tree in round one, .001 in round four, and .015 in round five!
10 (tie) – Anthony Fetch
Fetch has enjoyed a pretty good run at Numidia Dragway as of late. His latest victory came on Saturday night when he won the $10K. This comes on the heels of multiple wins recently including two $5K victories on Labor Day weekend.
10 (tie) – Jay Mazzotta
Jay Mazzotta closes out the Top 10 with a double at New Oxford Dragway. Mazzotta entered Box and No-Box in his Nova and 19 rounds later he was the winner in both classes!
