DragChamp Top 10 List – 10/07/20
1 – Scotty Richardson
Well this was an easy one this week. When one of the greatest racers of all time wins the Spring Fling Million, it’s a no brainer that they’ll take the number one spot. Congrats to Scotty Richardson for winning the Million in Bristol.
2 (tie) – Bryan Worner
Bryan Worner has enjoyed a tremendous season on the NHRA Super Stock circuit but last weekend was pretty special. Bryan kicked off the weekend earning the rain-delayed JEGS Sportsnationals title from New England. He then drove to the win in Race #1 of the VMP LODRS doubleheader. That was followed by a runner-up Sunday in Race #2! His huge weekend pushed him to the top of the Super Stock national standings.
2 (tie) – David Myhre
David Myhre destroyed the Division 7 ET Finals field. On Friday’s Gamblers race, Myhre won the High Roller race in his dragster and was runner-up in the Low Roller in his S-10. He even changed a lifter in the dragster between rounds! David then proceeded to win the Super Pro main event and punch his ticket to Vegas. He added a quarter-final finish in the S-10 to cap off the weekend.
3 – Brian Sawyer
Brian Sawyer continues to dominate the Division 1 Super Street class. At VMP last weekend, Brian won the rain-delayed JEGS Sportsnationals and then doubled up winning the Super Street title at the divisional.
4 – Bubba Linke
Bubba Linke also had a big weekend at VMP. The Stock Eliminator racer drove to three finals on the weekend including the JEGS Sportsnationals and both races in the VMP doubleheader.
5 – Steve Witherow
Steve Witherow became the first person in Spring Fling history to collect the Brodix run for the $50,000 prize. With one shot at the money, Witherow threw down a .000 light and paired it with a dead zero lap to earn a $50K payday.
6 – Caroline McCarty, Spencer Massey, & Josh McDaniel
7 – Jonathan Anderson
Division 2 standout Jonathan Anderson once again made headlines after a runner-up at the rain-delayed Gatornationals. He followed that with a win and a runner-up at the D2 National Open. To top off the weekend, Jonathan’s son also won in the Jr. class to join his father in the winners circle.
8 (tie) – Don Caesar
A couple of weeks ago Don Caesar made the Top 10 List after pulling off the double at the Sacramento Governor’s Cup. He repeated that feat at the Division 7 ET Finals winning the motorcycle gamblers race on Friday and the Sportsman run for the money shootout in his daily driven Mustang.
8 (tie) – Kevin Martin
K-Mart who dominated the Top 10 List earlier in the year was back to his winning ways at the Cowpasture Nationals last weekend. Kevin drove to a win and a runner-up at the historic race. A week earlier Kevin drove to a semifinal finish at the IHRA Division 4 ET Finals.
9 – Andrew Quinn
Andrew Quinn drove his bone-stock 14-second Corvette to the double at Tri-State over the weekend. Quinn won Wally’s in Pro and Sportsman on the strength of 27 straight round wins in the Sportsman class. He’s now collected five Wally’s this year in his venerable Corvette.
10 – Brian Jennen
Brian Jennen doubled up at Renegade Raceway winning Box and No-Box on Saturday. To do so he had to navigate through 8 rounds of No-Box and 7 rounds of Box to earn the double. He then raced to the semifinals on Sunday before coming up short of the triple!
Team Young Guns earned a shout out after taking down the Has Beens at the Spring Fling. After a 4-4 tie, Gage Burch faced off against Peter Biondo with the title on the line. Gage came out the winner in the run-off by just .001-second to hand the team championship to the Young Guns.
Steve and Brooke Foley pulled off the Husband/Wife double at VMP! On the sixth anniversary of the day Steve proposed to Brooke, they both collected Wally’s on a very special day. Steve captured the Stock title while Brooke won Top Dragster for the second consecutive year.
Alan and Jason Kenny pulled off the Father/Son double at VMP! Alan won Top Dragster and Jason earned the Super Gas title.
