DragChamp Top 10 List – 03/18/20
1 – David Latino
While the Pro classes and spectators were not in attendance in Gainesville, David Latino provided plenty of star power. The Division 4 ace drove to wins in both Super Stock and Stock Eliminator at the Gatornationals. He won both finals when Frank Aragona (Stock) and Anthony Bertozzi (Super Stock) both turned it red against Latino.
David became the 27th driver to double up in NHRA national event competition!
2 – Ross Laris
Insurance mogul Ross Laris posted a .017-pack in the Top Dragster final at the Baby Gators only to come up short to his opponents .010-pack. A week later Laris once again posted a .017-pack in the TD final at the Gatornationals and this time it held up. Laris defeated 2019 event champ Anthony Bertozzi to claim the win in back-to-back finals.
3 – Greg Slack
After winning Super Gas at the Baby Gators a week ago, Greg Slack continued his win streak a week later at the Gatornationals. Slack once again made his way to the final round but came up one win light short of the double. Greg fell to Jonathan Anderson in the Gatornationals Super Gas final. Even though he just missed the double, it was a great week for the veteran racer.
4 – Anthony Bertozzi
AB may or may not consider his Gatornationals weekend a success but I do. After winning Top Dragster a year ago, Bertozzi drove his Grand Am to the Super Stock final and his dragster to the TD final. He came up just short in both finals but it was an impressive effort just to reach two finals in one day.
5 – Ray Miller III
Just six weeks ago Ray-Ray was laid up in a hospital bed, on Friday he was standing tall in the Gatornationals winners circle. The 2019 NHRA Super Comp world champ picked up where he left off last season by winning in dominating fashion. In the semifinals, Miller posted a .005-pack to take out bracket racing superstar Troy Williams Jr. A round later, Miller used a .012-pack to stop Division 1 hitter Ken Moses in the Super Comp final.
6 – Jonathan Anderson
In his first Super Gas national event, Division 2 superstar Jonathan Anderson drove Cody Phillips Corvette to the win! Anderson, who normally races in Super Comp and Super Street, collected his first Super Gas Wally after borrowing Phillips’ Vette since his new car wasn’t ready. The win proves just how talented and versatile Anderson is.
7 – Sandy Wilkins
The 2019 Top Sportsman world champ showed no signs of letting up at the Gatornationals. Wilkins, once of the most awarded TS racers in the country, drove through the field to kick off his championship reign with a victory!
8 – Rodney Finchum
Hot Rod has been stellar in the opening races of the 2020 season. After opening the season a couple of weeks ago with a win at Shadyside, he picked up another big win at Atmore Dragway on Saturday.
9 – Chris Martin
Martin made his second final of the season picking up a win at the Win More at Atmore race. This win comes on the heels of a final round appearance at Montgomery Motorsports Park recently.
10 – Brylie Sexton
Brylie enjoyed a big weekend at Atmore Dragway. She swept the 10-12 year old Jr. class over the weekend.
My buddy Slate “Baby Gap” Cummings stopped off at Atmore Dragway on his way home from the Gators and collected a big win in Baby Cole’s Nova.
