DragChamp Top 10 List – 09/23/20
1 – Miss Mia Tedesco
Mia Tedesco once again proves she’s one of the best sportsman racers in the country. After several wins over the last couple of months, including a $22,500 victory at Keystone Raceway, Mia drove two different cars to $10,000 paydays to double up at the Chaos at Crossville bracket race.
2 – Craig Bourgeois
After a huge victory at the U.S. Nationals on Labor Day, Craig Bourgeois swept the Division 4 LODRS doubleheader last weekend at the Texas Motorplex. The rajun cajun is now in the driver’s seat for the Comp world championship.
3 (tie) – Christopher Dodd
Chris Dodd has dominated Super Comp over the last month. After winning the INDY Lucas Oil Series race, Dodd drove to back-to-back victories at the Division 4 San Antonio and Ennis LODRS events. The former JEGS Allstar champ continues to shine on the big stage.
3 (tie) – Jerry Emmons
Jammin’ Jerry Emmons followed his U.S. Nationals Stock victory with a second consecutive win at Race 1 of the NHRA Division 4 LODRS doubleheader in Dallas. He even won the Dallas final in a heads-up race!
4 – Parker Devore
Parker DeVore is another Division 4 racer who’s been hot lately. DeVore won the INDY points race, raced to a runner-up finish at the U.S. Nationals, and then picked up a win at the LODRS doubleheader at the Texas Motorplex!
5 – Joe Tharp
Joe Tharp doubled up at the IHRA Division 3 Summit ET Finals last weekend. Tharp collected wins in the Race of Champions and the ET Finals main event.
6 – Slate Cummings
Slate Cummings is no stranger to winning and lately, he’s turned on his share of winlights. His recent streak began at INDY when he won the JEGS Allstars in Stock. He also drove to the semifinals at the U.S. Nationals that very same weekend. Last weekend in Dallas, Slate lost a heads-up final round to Jerry Emmons to extend his hot streak.
7 – Austin Williams
2x NHRA world champ Austin “A-dub” Williams enjoyed a wild weekend in Dallas. Tanner Theobald drove his dragster to the Race 1 Super Comp win on Friday while Austin drove the same car to a runner-up finish in the Moser Shootout. Williams followed that up with a Super Gas win on Sunday to cap off the special weekend.
8 – Don Caesar
Don Caesar pulled a unique double at the Sacramento Governor’s Cup last week after winning the Hot Rod class and the dragbike class. Just a week earlier, Caesar earned his fourth consecutive motorcycle track championship.
9 – Colby Frazier
Colby Frazier has owned the 7.50 and Open Comp classes at the OSCA recently. Two weeks ago he swept both classes at US 60 Dragway and followed that by repeating that feat at Beacon Dragway last weekend.
10 (tie) – Trip West
Tripp West joins the list this week after doubling up in Footbrake at Ardmore Dragway last weekend. What’s more impressive is Tripp doesn’t Footbrake race his Camaro very often, if ever. To add to his superb weekend, Tripp also carried entries in three classes to the 1/4 finals on Saturday night.
10 (tie) – Ryan Fasano and Chad Six
DragChamp contributor Ryan Fasano and Chad Six both collected $10K paydays at the US 41 Twin $10K’s last weekend to round out the Top 10 List.
John Leibham earned a shout out after driving the Milk Wagon to the Division 4 Moser Shootout win!
Jeremy Demers earned props this week after making consecutive Super Gas finals. A week ago Demers drove to the win at Tri-State and followed that with a runner-up in Race 1 at the Division 4 doubleheader.
Nick Bowman gets a hard earned shout out after winning the Race of Champions at the IHRA Division 3 Summit Team Finals and added a runner-up finish in the Gamblers race.
Brandon Schmall has been a familiar face on the Top 10 List for the last couple of months. Although he’s normally in his Nova, Schmall used his Mustang to earn the Race of Champions victory at the NHRA Division 5 ET Finals. He also made it down to five cars in the main event and made the split in the Gamblers race. Brandon will join his brother Andy at in Las Vegas next month to compete for a national championship.
The father and son team of Kory and Rayce Alby made waves over the weekend to earn a shout out. Rayce won the track championship, won his first Wally in the King of the Track run off, and made the Sportsman final on Friday night. Dad Kory won $5K on Friday making the last three rounds with no transbrake! Kory then drove to the Super Pro final on Sunday (off the bottom) only to come up just short of the win.
