DragChamp Top 10 List – 3/4/20 Edition

03/04/20 – The weekly sportsman racing Top 10 List is back for another edition. We saw a number of special performances over the weekend. There were a couple of doubles and a near double on the LODRS scene, some familiar names continuing their recent win streaks, and some great family performances!

DragChamp Top 10 List – 03/04/20

1 (tie) – Ryan Mangus

Ryan Mangus doubles in Stock and Super Comp at the NHRA Division 7 LODRS event at Tucson Dragway to share the one spot with Jeff Taylor.

1 (tie) – Jeff Taylor

Jeff Taylor matched Mangus’ feat by winning Top Sportsman and Top Dragster at the Tucson divisional. The double catapulted him into a tie for the top spot this week!

2 – Gage Burch

Gage Burch did what he does best, doubled up at the NMRA event at Brandenton over the weekend. Gage has been dominate this season winning races almost every weekend.

3 – Brad Burton

A week after winning Stock at the NHRA Arizona Nationals, 2x world champ Brad Burton captured the Super Stock crown at the Division 7 LODRS event at Tucson Dragway.

4 – Vernon Rowland

Vernon Rowland Super Comp Winner Vegas

Last season, Vernon Rowland raced to five, count’em five, NHRA national event finals while winning three times. Competing at the Division 4 LODRS at Belle Rose, Rowland picked up where he left off in 2019 after collecting a Super Comp win and a Super Gas runner up last weekend.

5 – AJ Ashe

In the last three weeks, AJ has been in three finals while winning twice. His latest win was a $5,000 cash at the King of the Coast event in Gulfport.

6 – Darian Boesch

The 2019 JEGS Allstars Top Dragster champ continues to impress in 2020. After a couple of Quick 16 wins and a Box runner on the local scene, Boesch claimed the Top Sportsman win in Belle Rose at the D4 LODRS event. He also qualified #1 in the fast doorslammer class.

7 (tie) – Johnny Ezell

After a little facelift over the winter, Ezell’s Turkey car debuted at the King of the Coast race with a $5,000 win! This might be a sign of more to come as the big money bracket racing tour kicks off soon!

7 (tie) – Timmy Smith

Timmy Smith took home the $5,000 payday at Montgomery Motorsports Park last weekend to open the 2020 season. The talented Alabama racer parked his beautiful orange machine in it’s normal parking place, the winners circle!

8 (tie) – Kane Kearn

The #3 ranked driver in our 2019 Jr. Dragster Top 10 List continues to impress in 2020. After opening the season with three wins in one weekend, Kane parked Diablo in the winners circle again, this time in Gulfport.

8 (tie) – Carson Emmett

Carson Emmett kicked off the new year with a big weekend in Montgomery. He started with a Run for the Money win, followed with a semifinal showing Saturday, and won on Sunday!

8 (tie) – Sebastian Hickey

In his last two events, Sebastian Hickey made four final rounds and collected three victories. That’s the kind of performances that lock you in to the Top 10!

9 – Jake Ball & Rodney Finchum

The Father / son duo of Rodney Finchum and Jake Ball had a big weekend. After ending the season with a ET Finals victory and a runner up at Finals in Pomona, Jake drove to a runner up finish on Saturday. He was 14-2 on the weekend after losing at five cars on Sunday.

Rodney did one better by going 9-0 on Sunday to collect the $4,000 payday at Shady Side.

10 (tie) – Kayslee & Brian Price

Speaking of family success, the Price siblings enjoyed a huge weekend at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Kayslee (13) and Brian (8) both doubled up on the weekend. That’s a lot of hardware to take home!

10 (tie) – Alyson & Aaron Reynolds

To conclude our family focused Top 10, we spotlight the Reynolds family out of Florida. The brother/sister team met in the final round with Alyson taking the win over Aaron. Father Rob Reynolds had to be proud seeing both competing in the final.

Shout Out

John Leibham gets a special shout out this weekend after locking down his second JEGS Allstars birth last weekend in Belle Rose. At just 21 years old, John is already a Division champ, a national event champ, and a two-time JEGS Allstar rep.
