Tripp McCarty, Cory Gulitti, and Caraline McCarty all visited the winners circle at the AGV Promotions Fall Throwdown at Carolina Dragway.
AIKEN, SC – The Fall Throwdown made its way to Carolina Dragway in Aiken, South Carolina where the McCarty’s and Cory Gulitti made it a weekend sweep with each of them finding the winners circle over the weekend.
After getting beat up pretty bad at the Bristol Fling, they stayed on the road and headed to Beech Bend Raceway Park for the TenGatBG where Gulitti found himself in a semi-final on Saturday but that was about as good as it got. The group then headed to Carolina where they did the unthinkable – they completely swept the weekend in all 3 cars!
Tripp McCarty won the Friday $25,000 race, Cory Gulitti had two entries in at three cars in Saturday’s $50,000 race and took home that trophy, then Princess Caraline ended the weekend by winning the Sunday $25,000 race. None of this could’ve happened without the help of Carol McCarty and her infamous are chiefing. She kept all the kids in line – making sure they had whatever they needed for each and every round.
Take a look at the weekend recap below to learn a little more about the AGV Fall Throwdown at Carolina Dragway.
Friday – Tripp McCarty
Tripp found himself in his first ever big money final round where he took home the win and got the first trophy of the weekend. McCarty defeated Kyle Cultrera in the final round where Kyle turned on the red bulb by -.004 to hand the win over to Tripp who was .012 and coasted to a 6.762 at 75 mph.
Tim Thomas was the semi-finalist.
Saturday – Cory Gulitti
Cory had two entries left in at 3 cars, with the other one being Shane Carr, and Carr beat him in the semis but turned it red to hand the win over to Gulitti in the final round. Both cars that were left in at the semi-finals were hauled to the racetrack in the same trailer and pitted together, making it a pretty cool story. Gulitti added to the dream weekend with his win on Saturday, leaving Caraline as the lone solider who hadn’t visited the winners circle yet that weekend.
Carr’s .004 total made Gulitti’s .017 look silly in the semi-finals. The two came back around for the final round where Carr turned it red by -.008 to hand the win over to Gulitti who was .012 and coasted to victory.
Sunday – Caraline McCarty
Caraline couldn’t be outdone for the weekend and cashed in at the winners circle on Sunday night, making it a full weekend sweep for her family. McCarty defeated Boo Harper in the final round. She had the starting line advantage, .012 to .027, and ran a 6.012 at 104 mph on her 5.97 dial-in to head to the winners circle.
Jeff Serra was the semi-finalist.
