Champions Crowned at NHRA New England Nationals

Joe Santangelo, Amanda Boicesco, and Johnny Labbous hoisted Wally’s at the Tascaparts.com NHRA New England Nationals.

EPPING, NH – Champions were crowned at the NHRA New England Nationals where several winners visited the big stage they have seen many times before. Big names like Joe Santangelo (SS), Amanda Boicesco (SC), and Johnny Labbous (SG) hoisted Wally’s in their respected classes.

Joining them in the winners circle were John Gray (STK), John Harper (SST), and Nick Meloni (TD). Read the race recap below to get the full race recap!

Stock Eliminator – John Gray

Heads up! John Gray defeated John Shaul in a AA/SA heads up final round. Gray had the better car and ran a 9.667 at 135 mph to get to the stripe first to win his second National event Wally.

Joe Santangelo and Frank Aragona Jr. were the semi-finalists.

Super Stock – Joe Santangelo

Joe Santangelo won his 17th National event Wally after defeating Justin Picillo in the final round. Santangelo had the slight starting line advantage and ran a 10.108 on his 10.10 dial-in to get to the winners circle.

Joe Lisa was the semi-finalist.

Super Comp – Amanda Boicesco

In the battle of the girls, Amanda Boicesco came out on top after she defeated Heather Fetch in the final round. Boicesco had the starting line advantage, .009 to .030, and dropped to give Fetch the stripe causing her to breakout. Amanda ran 8.94 at 174 mph to take home her second National event Wally.

Shawn Fricke and Ken Moses were the semi-finalists.

Super Gas – Johnny Labbous

Johnny Labbous won his eighth National event Wally after Iggie Boicesco broke after coming off the stop. He had hopes of being in the winners circle with his daughter, Amanda, but Labbous coasted to the stripe to take the victory.

Jim Repka and Joe Galluci Jr. were the semi-finalists.

Super Street – John Harper

First time winner! John Harper defeated Raymond Knight to take home his first National event Wally. Harper had the starting line advantage, .038 to .060, and on a double breakout Harper went a 10.896 at 140mph to visit the winners circle.

Dom Burgese Jr. was the semi-finalist.

Top Dragster – Nick Meloni

Nick Meloni defeated Kyle Cultrera in the final round to take home his first National event Wally in his second final round. Cultrera turned it -.002 to had the win over to Meloni who was .027 and coasted to victory.

Al Kenny and Richard Bell were the semi-finalists.

Megan Strassweg is a 23 year old Super Comp racer from Louisville, Kentucky. She races a 2015 American Dragster sponsored by Coolshirt Systems. Growing up at the racetrack, drag racing is all she has known and never plans to give up on it.
