Emmons Bros Sweep the Late Houston National

Jerry Emmons and Harvey Emmons swept Stock Eliminator and Super Stock, taking home both Wally’s at the postponed Houston National.

ENNIS, TX – Due to weather, the sportsman categories of the Mopar Express lane NHRA SpringNationals were postponed and were to be completed before the start of the Stampede of Speed / NHRA Texas Fall Nationals. Yesterday, champions were finally crowned!

Brothers Jerry Emmons and Harvey Emmons lead the winner’s board, sweeping the classes they are most familiar with. Jerry won in Stock Eliminator while Harvey won in Super Stock.

Joining them in the winners circle were Christopher Dodd (SC) and Jerry DeBusk (SG).

Stock Eliminator – Jerry Emmons

Jerry Emmons defeated Jeff Lopez in the final round to take home his 17th National event Wally. Emmons had the starting line advantage, .043 to .128, and ran a 10.298 on his 10.25 dial-in.

Gary Emmons was the semi-finalist.

Super Stock – Harvey Emmons III

Harvey “Speedy” Emmons

Harvey Emmons defeated heavy hitter Greg Stanfield in the final round to win his 12th National event Wally. Stanfield cut a perfect light on Emmons, but broke out taking too much stripe to give the win to Emmons. Emmons was .018 and ran a 9.561 on his 9.55 dial-in.

Brandon Bakies was the semi-finalist.

Super Comp – Christopher Dodd

What a final round! 2020 World Champion Christopher Dodd collected his fifth National event Wally after defeating Lyndon Rutland. Both drivers were just a coinflip apart on the tree, .013 to .014, and Dodd took .0006 at the stripe to take the trophy. He ran a 8.916 at 176 mph.

Vernon Rowland and Trene Cressonie were the semi-finalists.

Super Gas – Jerry DeBusk

Jerry DeBusk defeated Austin Williams in the final round to take home the Super Gas Wally. Williams turned on the red bulb by -.002 to hand the automatic win over to DeBusk who was .014 and coasted to a 10.397 at 123 mph.

Jim Capp was the semi-finalist.
