Competition Eliminator – 9 Car Field

Craig Bourgeois 2020 Comp Champ

Defending event champion and World Champion Craig Bourgeois leads the Comp field in Houston this week. He’s joined by a short but talented field that includes Roger Brogdon, Royce Freeman, and Sean Dodd.

DragChamp pick to win:

Roger Brogdon – The former Pro Stock star and D4 class sponsor has more than enough power to find the winners circle.

Super Stock – 30 Car Field

spring nationals 2020
Gary Emmons 2020 Super Stock Winner

The Houston Super Stock field includes a full slate of Emmons Motorsports racers including all four brothers along with a host of their teammates. 4x Super Stock World Champ Greg Stanfield enters the race coming off a win at Ennis last weekend.

DragChamp picks to win:

Gary Emmons – Look for the defending event champ to be a tough out this week.

Hayden Trumble – Made a huge splash in his rookie season last year, I expect more of the same this year.

Stock Eliminator – 36 Car Field

Wes Neely 2020 Stock RU

Look for Parker DeVore to make a deep run this week after winning in Ennis last weekend. There’s a reason he was #2 in the world last year. DeVore will have to fend off a host of D4’s veteran racers including the following family teams: Emmons, Ford, Cotten, and Lopez.

DragChamp picks to win:

Jerry Emmons – Hard to pick against Jammin’ Jerry in Houston.

Brandon Bakies – He’s been close at HRP, would love to go the distance this weekend.

Super Comp – 41 Car Field

2020 Super Comp Champ Shannon Brinkley

Defending SC World Champ Christopher Dodd will look to start another championship run this week at HRP. To do so, he’ll have to contend with bracket racing sensation Hunter Patton who was in the final last weekend at the D4 Divisional at Ennis.

DragChamp picks to win:

Dylan Hough – Talented young D6 racer impressed at the Spring Fling Vegas earlier this season. Expect more of the same in Super Comp.

Matt Exner – Houston based transmission specialist has been killing it in his No-Box car. Let’s see if that momentum carries over to his dragster.

Super Gas – 35 Car Field

Charlie Stewart 2020 Super Gas Champ

Austin Williams leads a strong contingent of 9.90 racers into action at the SpringNationals. The field includes several past champions including Charlie Stewart, Roger Warren, and Jeff Lopez.

DragChamp picks to win:

Jeff Lopez – Veteran D4 racer has an impressive track record at the Houston facility.

Joe Harper – Mississippi runner has been quiet since his last win in Charlotte. Could be time for another standout performance.

Top Sportsman – 21 Car Field

spring nationals 2020
Mark Buehring Top Sportsman Winner

Defending event champion Mark Buehring will face stiff competition this week including Darian Boesch, Allen Firestone, and Joe Roubicek.

DragChamp pick to win:

Darian Boesch – Sticking with the World Champ this week!

Top Dragster – 25 Car Field

The Top Dragster field includes a host of talented D4 racers along with a handful of out of division players such as Jeff Strickland, Afton Swanson, and Taylor Vetter. Look for the field to be quick and fast at the famed Houston racetrack.

DragChamp pick to win:

Chanse Bullock – Local racer has more wins at this track than the entire field combined. This experience could be the difference this weekend.

Factory Stock Showdown – 20 Car Field

Aaron Stanfield 2020 Factory Stock Champ

The Factory Stock field includes a good mix of Camaro’s, Mustang’s, and Challenger’s this week. Look for Aaron Stanfield and David Barton to lead the field as they continue to battle for class supremacy.

DragChamp pick to win:

Aaron Stanfield – To be the man, you have to beat the man. Right now, Aaron is at the top of his game.
