Tyler Wied wins the 2021 DragChamp 10-12 Jr. Racer of the Year title after winning 11 times in 20 final round appearances

12/15/21 – Welcome to the 2021 DragChamp 10-12 Jr. Racer of the Year Top 10 List. This week we rank the best 10-12 year old racers in the country and crown the 2021 10-12 Jr. Racer of the Year!

2021 DragChamp 10-12 Jr. Racer Top 10 List

1 – Tyler Wied

Tyler Wied wins the 2021 DragChamp 10-12 Jr. Racer of the Year title. Tyler had a very successful year with 20 finals and 11 wins. Wied was the 11 year old WCF champion and won 4 season championships. Over the year, Wied stacked up 6 Big Daddy trophy’s and 2 Ironman’s including a win and a runner-up at the WCF. Most recently, Tyler won $5,000 at the BMP Thanksgiving JR Nationals.

2 – Kane Kern

Kane Kern takes the number 2 spot after winning the title last season. Kern won 11 times in 19 finals this season. He traveled to 16 different tracks and won against some of the toughest racers in the country. Kern also won big races like the Holy Springs $5K Shootout and the BMP Thanksgiving JR Nationals $5k team race.

3 – Cj Jenkins

Cj Jenkins had a big year after being in 15 finals and winning 14 of them. Cj had some big accomplishments this year which included a double up at the Holiday Junior Jam where he won the $5K main event and the $1K shootout.

4 – Colby Wattenbarger

Colby Wattenbarger found his way to 16 finals coming out on top in 13 of them. Highlights include a runner-up at the WCF, Ardmore track champ, and a 2nd place points finish at Thunder Valley Raceway.

5 – Hayden Miller

Hayden Miller made 15 finals winning 9 of them which earned him the #5 spot. He was also the KOC champion for the second year in a row.

6 – Avery Bolding

Avery Bolding secures the number 6 spot after 17 finals and 7 wins this season. Throughout the year Avery picked up 2 Ironman’s, won a $5K race, and was top 5 in points at 5 different points series.

7 – Hailey Peterson

Hailey Peterson secured the number 7 spot after winning 10 times in 13 finals. Her highlights include NHRA D2 Race of Champions winner, Bradenton Motorsports Park track champ, ECF Fun Race 6-12 winner, and a weekend sweep at BMP on Memorial Day weekend where she won all three days.

8 – Colin Songas

Colin Songas made 13 finals winning 7 times this season. Colin also was the track champion at Brainerd Raceway and finished second at Grove Creek Raceway.

9 – Douglas Hughes

Douglas Hughes made 10 finals and came out with 8 wins. Hughes won every race at Houston Raceway Park except for two and one of those was a runner-up.

10 – Cole Grayson

Cole Grayson closes out the 2021 DragChamp 10-12 Top 10 List with 10 finals and 6 wins. After he totaled his car in March, Cole drove a borrowed car to 2 finals a couple weeks later. Cole made a great comeback from his bad crash and finished the rest of the year off strong which landed him in the 10 spot.

Honorable Mention

Rowan Parlett didn’t race as frequently as others this season but when he did, he made it count. Rowan primarily competed in the 8 race PDRA series this year where he qualified for every race. He collected 3 wins in 4 finals which earned him the PDRA World Championship! In addition to the championship, Rowan raced to the PDRA Allstars victory earning $2,000 in the process.
