April 2021 DragChamp Jr. Racer of the Month Kane Kern
Kane Kern is the April DragChamp Jr. Racer of the Month! Kane won big at the biggest races of the season to secure the title.
There’s a first time for everything and the team at DragChamp is excited to introduce our newest award, the Jr. Racer of the Month. After teaming up with Travis Theobald at Theobald Motorsports, we created special monthly trophies to recognize the top performing Jr. racer each month.
To crown the our very first Jr. Racer of the Month, we scoured the Top 10 Lists from March and April to see who made the biggest impact during the last couple of months. At stake is bragging rights and a custom trophy from Theobald Motorsports.

Highlights
As we reviewed the March and April Top 10 Lists, several racers stood out. These included Victoria Beaner, Aaron Reynolds, and Grace Varner. Each of these racers enjoyed tremendous success during the early part of the season. Victoria Beaner won consistently at her home track in Florida in the Novice class and even picked up a victory at the King of the Coast in Gulfport.
Aaron Reynolds kicked the season off in style in Florida making eight final round appearances in 12 races. Grace Varner picked up where she left off in 2020 by winning on four consecutive weekends.

Top Contenders
Cj Jenkins rolled to six straight final rounds to land on the Jr. Top 10 List on multiple occasions. His streak included a win and a runner-up at the Division 2 National Open in Mooresville and a victory at Coastal Plains.

Nathan Mendenhall also made several appearances recently on the Jr. Top 10 List including back-to-back first and second place finishes. Mendenhall picked up a big win over a 60 car field at MIR earlier this year. He followed that by winning three times in two weekends which included winning a Wally at Mason Dixon.

Addysan Rogers kicked off the season with a big $1,500 victory at Houston Raceway. Since then, she’s been a threat to win everywhere she’s raced. At the season opening SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series race in Abilene, Addy drove to a win, a runner-up, and a semifinal. A couple of weeks later she raced to two runner-up finishes and a semifinal finish at I-30 Dragway.

Cameron Nelson is riding an impressive win streak. After taking the 7.90 victory at I-30 Dragway several weeks back, Nelson has found the winners circle every weekend since. He followed the win at I-30 with a victory at Alamo City Motorplex. Then he drove to a 12-round win and a runner-up at the Division 7 race. Last weekend he added a Jr. Street win to the mix after stopping Rylie Trumble in the final at Houston Raceway.

April Jr. Racer of the Month
Although there were a number of great performances over the first few months of the season, Kane Kern once again stood atop the standings after several big performances. The 2020 DragChamp 10-12 Racer of the Year won the biggest race of the season on his way to four wins in a five race span. Kane drove through a field of over 100 of the best juniors in the country at Holly Springs to collect a $5,000 payday. Even more impressive, he was still double entered at six cars!
Shortly after Kane impressed at the SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series race in Abilene where he won the Gambler’s race on Friday and the 10-12 Age Group class on Sunday.

Congratulations to Kane and his father Coty on a great start to the season. For winning the April DragChamp Jr. Racer of the Month award, Kane will receive a custom trophy courtesy of Travis Theobald at Theobald Motorsports.
How the winner is determined: The DragChamp Jr. Racer of the Month award is presented to the racer that makes the biggest impact on the Top 10 List during the month. To be considered for the Jr. Racer of the Month title, a racer must make at least one Top 10 appearance during the month. At the end of the month, we review the weekly Top 10 lists, and select the racer that has made the biggest impact. The winner receives a custom Racer of the Month trophy courtesy of Travis Theobald at Theobald Motorsports.
