DragChamp Top 10 List
1 – Caraline McCarty
Caraline McCarty showed out at the Spring Fling Galot last week. I believe she made the ladder round all five days to grab the Fling MVP title. And she did it in a wheelstanding wagon! I don’t know about you but that sounds like a #1 performance to me.
2 – Shane Carr
3 (tie) – Luke Bogacki & Jonathan Anderson
While Jonathan Anderson came up one winlight short in Atlanta, he splits the three spot with Luke Bogacki this week. His runner-up finish to Luke at the Southern Nationals was his third straight final and second straight SG national event final. He won the Gatornationals earlier this season in Super Gas and won Super Comp at SGMP. The new roadster has been to two national events and made the finals in both!
On the flip side, SG winner Bogacki has been red-hot lately. His win in Atlanta, the 15th of his NHRA career, was the third consecutive week Luke finished the day with a victory. In the weeks prior to the Southern Nationals, Bogacki drove his Vega to wins on consecutive weekends at Beech Bend Raceway Park.
4 – Tim Markoglu
Tim Markoglu locks down the four spot this week and earning the largest paycheck of the week. On Friday, Markoglu outlasted the Spring Fling field in Galot to nail down the $100,000 victory!
5 – Slick Rick Baehr
Slick Rick Baehr is known for turning on a lot of winlights and that’s exactly what he did at BMP over the weekend. After two runner-up finishes on Saturday (Super Pro and No-Box), Rick made the No-Box final on Sunday when rain forced a split & quit. He also added a late round finish in Super Pro on Sunday to cap off a great weekend.
6 – Andrew Goss
Andrew Goss continues to impress at Mo-Kan. A week after a RU in Sportsman and a win in No-E, Goss went the distance in his dragster taking down the Super Pro title on Sunday. In addition to his win and runner-up the previous week, he also posted a semifinal finish in Super Pro.
7 – Jeff Serra
Jeff Serra continues to shine on the biggest stages and last week at Galot was no exception. On Thursday and Friday, Serra posted a runner-up finish in the $25K and followed with a semifinal finish in the $100K the following night.
8 (tie) – Tristan Craig
Tristan Craig made some noise at LVMS over the weekend driving to two final rounds. In Super Pro, Tristan took runner-up honors to Parker Theobald but came back to win the Pro class in his dragster.
8 (tie) – Jordan Wilhelm
Jordan Wilhelm locked down a Top 10 spot with a near double in Muncie. Wilhelm grabbed the W in Mod but came up one winlight short of the double settling for a runner-up in Sportsman.
9 – Chuck Trotter
Chuck Trotter earned a special Top 10 spot this week after driving his doorcar to the Super Comp victory in Atlanta. I believe it was the first doorcar to win Super Comp at an NHRA national event in 15 years.
10 (tie) – Kyle Fritz
Kyle Fritz earned his Top 10 spot on the heels of a double up at Wild Horse Pass last week. Kyle won the Pro class on Saturday and Sunday to sweep the Summit Series weekend. He also added a semifinal finish in Super Pro on Sunday!
10 (tie) –Chris Estep
Chris Estep outlasted over 500 competitors at the Working Mans $10 Grands to claim the $10K victory. Estep overcame huge obstacles to do so including having the oil pan off on the morning of the race. After putting the car back together, he drove through the re-entry round eventually turning on 11 winlights to secure the hard earned payday.
