After a review of the September Jr. Racer Top 10 Lists, a group of young racers stood out above the crowd due to their amazing on-track accomplishments. We’ve ranked them and are ready to crown the Jr. Racer of the Month.

The team at DragChamp partnered with Theobald Motorsports to recognize the top performing Jr. racers each month. The Jr. Racer of the Month will earn bragging rights and a custom trophy from Travis Theobald at Theobald Motorsports.

Highlights

Just to make the Jr. Racer Top 10 List is quite an accomplishment but to stand out over the course of the month is something else. Here are some of the racers we felt made the most impact during the month.

As usual it took multiple final round appearances and/or wins on a single weekend just to lead the Jr. Racer Top 10 on a weekly basis. Nathan Tanner, Gavin Whisnant, Tyler Munoz, Bode Bennett, and Grace Varner all led the Top 10 during the month.

Nathan Tanner topped the list after winning $2,500 at VMP. Bode Bennett grabbed the lead after winning two Wally’s at Ardmore and Tyler Munoz had two wins and a runner-up at the Derby City 100K to lead the list. Grace Varner won practically every week which boosted her to the top of the charts which Gavin Whisnant took a different approach to lead the Top 10. Whisnant competed in five races at four tracks in one weekend while turning on 25 win lights!

Other racers that stood out during the month included Hope Capley who made five straight finals while winning four times. Capley also grabbed the Buffalo Valley track championship. CJ Jenkins continued his winning ways in September by adding four more trophies to his collection. This increased his win total to 12 victories on the season.

Top Contenders

Colt Saum crisscrossed the country hitting big races on a weekly basis. During his travels, Saum turned on 70+ win lights, made four finals, and won twice. In addition to his finals, Colt made numerous quarterfinal and semifinal appearances during the month against big car count fields. Saum’s success came at big events such as the IHRA Division 4 Jr. ET Finals, the NHRA Division 4 Jr. ET Finals, the NHRA Division 7 Jr. ET Finals, the IHRA Division 4 Team Finals, and the Midwest Pro Mod Series.

Grace Varner turned on win lights for several weeks in a row after winning on six consecutive weekends. Varner picked up victories at Capital City Motorsports Park, SDMP, Holiday Raceway, and at Atlanta where she won the NHRA Division 2 Race of Champions. Grace also secured the SDMP track championship during her impressive six week stretch.

Bode Bennett made a huge run at the Jr. Racer of the Month title after making six finals in a four week stretch. Bennett kicked off his run with a win and a runner-up at Big Country Raceway in Abilene, Texas where he also secured the track championship. He then headed to the IHRA Division 4 Jr. Finals where he made the split and quit final in the All Run Big Money class. Bode headed to Ardmore for the NHRA Jr. ET Finals where he won the Race of Champions and the 13-14 Age Group. A week later Bode drove to a runner-up finish at the NHRA Division 7 Jr. ET Finals.
