Thursday Warm-up $5K
Zach Smith wheeled his 2020 American Shorty Dragster to the Thursday $5K Warm-up race victory. This is Zach’s first full season in a ill-sized dragster and he is already making a name for himself. In the final round, he faced Tyler Haleen. Both drivers were teen on the tree and ran dead-on but Zach pulled off the win.
Friday Moser Engineering $20K
In Friday’s Moser Engineering $20K Main event, Chase McKay and Ed Jirousek battled it out in the final round. Chase wheeled the beautiful Camaro through 400 cars to lock up the first big check of the weekend.
AJ Buchanan was part of the semi-final round where he went -008 red to Chase.
American Race Cars Dragster Shootout
In the American Race Cars Dragster Shootout, Jerry Hollingsworth beat Hunter Patton in the finals. Jerry drives a 99 Klopfistien Race Car so he was super excited to race for the chassis. Jerry was .002 on the tree while Patton missed it a little with a .038 light. It was smooth sailing at the finish line as Jerry dropped to a 5.20 on a 5.17 dial for the win.
Saturday Vintage Race Trailers $20K
In Saturday’s Vintage Race Trailer $20k, we saw Hunter Patton, Steve Holowiecki and Rob Engleman facing off after each one had already had the bye run thru the day. Holowiecki and Engleman had a small delay in the final while Holowiecki was patiently waiting on Engleman to fire up. He couldn’t get the car to stay running so it was Holowiecki and Patton in the final. Holowiecki’s chassis was on repeat all night he finished the night with a dead on 4.69 but Patton was -006 red at the start so it was all over from there.
Saturday $5K High Rollers Race
Saturday night also featured a $5K high rollers race for all the competitions that were not still in the main event. In this event, Patrick Forster, Curtis Allen, Austin Lena, and Curt Valtman competed for the final purse. Allen beat Lenz after Lenz went -008 red while Forster took out Valtman. Forster who usually competes on the PDRA Elite Top Dragster secure was seeing the finishing line nicely at the slowed speed of 4.66 where he scooped up his first big check in a few years.
Sunday GEM Construction $20K
On the final day, it was an all door car semi-final where Chris Bear, Bob Wingfield, Chad May and Randy Biddle Sr. faced off for the last $20k of the weekend. The GEM Construction Equipment $20k Sunday saw Chris Bear defeat Chad May after May was -004 red and then Randy Biddle defeated Bob Wingfield when Bob missed the tree and became mathematically ineligible. Bear defeated Biddle in the finals when Biddle had some car issues and went red.
Congratulations to all winners and finalists from the ACE Ohio Events Summit Summer Slam at Dragway 42!
