GABR Stars and Stripes New Year’s Spectacular Comes to Gulfport

GULFPORT, MS- What better way to bring in the New Year than some big money bracket racing! Britt Cummings & Gaylon Rolison of Great American Bracket Races presents the SDPC Raceshop Great American Stars and Stripes New Year’s Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering. This four-day event will feature a Wednesday $2,500-to-win Gambler Race for both Top Bulb & Bottom Bulb, three $10,023-to-win races for Top Bulb & Bottom Bulb, two $2,000-to-win races for Junior Dragster, and a Super Team Challenge presented by Moser Engineering. It is a pay at the gate format, so no pre-entry is required besides the Super Team Challenge.

Wednesday Test N’ Tune & Gamblers Races

To kick off the event, there will be a $25 Test N’ Tune session from 11AM-2PM. Following Test N’ Tune there will be a Wednesday $2,500-to-win Gamblers Race for both Top Bulb and Bottom Bulb. The entry fee is $75 and there will be a first round buyback available for $50. Runner-ups will earn $500 and semis will take home $200.

Top Bulb

Top Bulb racers will compete for $10,023 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If there are more than 250 entries in first round, the purse will increase to $15,000-to-win. The entry fee per day is $120 and there will be a first or second round buyback for $100 unless there are more than 200 entries and then it will only be for first round. Runner-ups will earn $2,000 and semi-finalists will take home $750.

Bottom Bulb

Bottom Bulb will also have a chance at $10,023 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Like in Top Bulb, if there are more than 250 entries in round 1, the purse will bump up to $15,000-to-win. The entry fee per race is $120 and buybacks will be available for $100 for first or second round unless there are more than 200 entries and in that case it will just be for first round. Runner-ups will win $2,000 and semi-finalist finishers will earn $750.

Junior Dragsters

Junior Dragster competitors will race for $2,000 on Friday and Saturday. Ages 7-11 will run separate from 12-17. The remaining 7-11 class winner wins $100 and will then be merged with the 12-17 year olds and wins an additional $25 for each round won. The entry fee is $75 per day and there will be a $100 buyback for first round.

Super Team Challenge presented by Moser Engineering

Teams consist of 3 racers: 2 Top Bulb & 1 Bottom Bulb or 1 Top Bulb & 2 Bottom Bulb. The team entry fee is $300 per team and there will be no maximum number of teams. The team with the most round wins for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday combined wins 70% of available purse and the second place team earns 30%. The same one racer cannot be on multiple teams.

Team registration opens December 1, 2022 at 6pm at www.greatamericanbracketraces.com. It will be a $50 deposit to register a team.

Events Extras

Wild Cards will be available for purchase for Top Bulb and Bottom Bulb only Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They are 1 for $10, 2 for $20 or 3 for $25 (separate cards for each class). Wild Card winners advance to round 3 if 1st round only buybacks or round 4 if 1st or 2nd round buybacks. Wild Card winners can never be the wait-n-see bye at anytime during the race, even if remaining entries have had a bye run.

Friday night will feature a Great American Bracket Races/ Gulfport Dragway Racer Appreciation dinner and a fireworks show to celebrate the New Year!

Spectator/ Crew Admission

The spectator/ crew admission is $15/day or a 3-day weekend pass for $40. Kids 10 & Under are FREE!
