This week’s DragChamp Jr. Racer Spotlight is all about Florida based Junior Dragster racer, Griffin “G-Money” Hatcher.

PACE, FL- Griffin “G-Money” Hatcher has been racing Junior Dragsters for the past eight years. He got introduced to the sport by his Dad and Grandpa who both have been involved in bracket racing for many years. Griffin also races Junior Dragsters alongside his sister, Linly who you will learn more about in next week’s spotlight.

Griffin currently competes in the Junior Dragster classes available at Gulfport Dragway, Atmore Dragway, and Capital City Motorsports Park. His current race car is a 2020 Mike Bos that they have owned for 2 years.

Outside of Racing
When Griffin isn’t behind the wheel of his dragster, he can be found cheering on his favorite hockey team, the Tampa Bay Lightning and listening to his favorite music artist, Kanye West. He also spends time doing his schoolwork and hanging out with his girlfriend, Lauren. His favorite thing to eat is anything from Taco Bell and one thing most people don’t know about him is that he loves listening to music.

What’s on your bucket list, future goals, what do you hope to achieve?
Winning a race at Bristol (ECF)
What is your favorite race car, and why?
My new 2020 Mike Box car, because I am “6.3” and it has room
Who has made the biggest impact on your racing success?
My Dad- cause he has put up with me for so long.

Who do you look up to in the sport?
Clay Millican- He signed my car at Holly Springs last year
Tell us what you do for a living?
School
How do you support your racing, side hustle, sponsor, partner, etc.?
Currently no sponsors but always looking
Who do you hate to see in the other lane, and why?
Rylee Wells– Because she is one of the best Junior racers I know

What’s the hardest part of drag racing?
Knowing the reason I lost was one to many peddle taps
What’s your most embarrassing moment in a race car?
Having a .000 light and never lifting because I thought it was a time run.
What are you saying to yourself just before you stage the car?
Don’t go Red!
What do you enjoy the most at the racetrack?
People at the track are the best, I have met my closest friends there
Are you superstitious? If so, what are they?
Yes- I have to sit on the same side of golf cart every round.

Love to Win
Which are you better at the starting line or the finish line?
Starting line 100%
What motivates you to continue racing?
The drive to be best racer I can be
If money were no object, what would your racing operation look like? Car, trailer, class, race schedule, etc.
