Hunter Davis wins the 2021 DragChamp 16-17 Jr. Racer of the Year title after winning 18 times in 22 final round appearances

2021 DragChamp 16-17 Jr. Racer Top 10 List

1 – Hunter Davis

Hunter Davis wins the Laris Motorsports Insurance 16-17 Racer of the Year title posting impressive record of 18 wins in 22 finals during the 2021 race season. Hunter was the Division 3 13+ champion, Beacon Dragway track champion, and Midwest Jr. Super Series Quick 32 champion. He also had a runner-up finish in the Sikeston $5K race.

2 – Braydon Deal

Braydon Deal takes the number 2 spot after winning 13 times in 18 finals. Deal also had some big accomplishments on the year such as winning the 13-17 ECF Gamblers race, the Division 3 Race of Champions, 3 Wally’s, and the Quaker City Motorsports Park track championship.

3 – Brandon Deal

Brandon Deal lands in third place just behind his brother. Brandon won 12 out of 21 finals, took home the Keystone Raceway Park championship, Division 3 Race of Champions runner up to his brother (Braydon), and finished 9th at the IHRA World Finals.

4 – Graeme Rufenacht

After winning the overall Jr. Racer of the Year title in 2020, Graeme Rufenacht secured the number 4 spot this season after collecting 11 wins in 18 finals. Graeme took home 3 championships in the SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series including Bracket 330, 12-17 Age Group, and All Run Big Money. Graeme won all over the country making finals in 8 of the 10 states he traveled to.

5 – Jesse Fritts

Jesse Fritts earned a Top 5 spot after racing to 25 finals on the season while winning 9 races. Fritts won 2 track championships in the process, Coles County Dragway and Lucas Oil Dragway, and also won a Wally and a Ironman.

6 – Nathan Mendenhall

Nathan Mendenhall earned his way to the number 6 spot after winning 10 races in 15 finals on the season.

7 – Gage Rachford

Gage Rachford won 8 times in 12 finals to earn his Top 10 spot. Rachford’s highlight of the season came at the ECF at Bristol. There he won a $5K race, was 16-17 ECF champion, and was runner-up in another race during the weekend.

8 – Brian Yerger Jr.

Brian Yerger Jr. won 8 of 16 finals, including a $5k race, 2 Wally’s, an Ironman, and 2 track championships (Farmington and Piedmont).

9 – Aaron Reynolds

Aaron Reynolds won on a frequent basis during the 2021 season including making double digit finals. His highlights include winning the NHRA Division 2 Lucas Oil Series championship, the Teel Memorial Race at WCF, and the Palm Beach track championship.

10 – Shelby Thurman

Shelby Thurman rounds out the 16-17 Jr. Racer Top 10 List after she won won 6 out of 14 finals. This included winning a Wally and an Ironman during the season.
