Tyler Wied wins the 2022 DragChamp 10-12 Jr. Racer of the Year title presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance after winning 19 times on the season

12/21/22 – Welcome to the 2022 DragChamp 6-9 Jr. Racer of the Year Top 10 List presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance. This week we rank the best 6-9 year old racers in the country and crown the 2022 6-9 Jr. Racer of the Year!

DragChamp Jr. Racer Top 10 List

1 – Tyler Wied

Tyler Wied joins his brother Carson as a 2022 DragChamp Racer of the Year! After Carson won the 6-9 Jr. Racer of the Year title last week, Tyler takes the 10-12 Racer of the Year title for the second consecutive year. Much like his brother, Tyler posted an unbelievable win total this season which included 19 wins in 24 finals. He won three season championships in the Midwest Jr. Super Series and captured the 12 yr. old ECF trophy. On multiple occasions Tyler made multiple finals in the same weekend including 2 wins and a runner-up at the Stars and Stripes Challenge in INDY and a weekend sweep at the Cordova MWJSS event. He also showed out at big money races earning a runner-up in a $5K at Capital City and getting to the 5 car split at the Capital City Halloween $10K.

2 – Kane Kern

Kane Kern continues to impress year after year. His second place finish in the Racer of the Year standings marks his third straight top 2 finish in our 10-12 Racer of the Year list and second straight 2nd place finish. The young man from southern Louisiana posted 12 wins in 27 finals this season and won 6 championships! Kane was the WCF champ, won $4K at the Great American Bracket Race, won the Thanksgiving Jr. Nationals team race, made 2 finals at the IHRA D4 Jr. Team Finals, and was the IHRA World Finals Race of Champions runner-up. And those are just a few of his impressive stats this season.

3 – John Varner

John Varner grabs the three spot after making 20 final round appearances in 2022. Varner posted 9 wins during the season which included victories at the NHRA D2 Race of Champions and D2 Bracket Finals. He also earned the SDMP track championship and posted runner-up finishes at the IHRA Bracket Finals, the Dream Team Gamblers race, and the BMP $5K.

4 – Josiah Varner

Josiah Varner lands just behind his brother John after taking the #4 spot. Josiah won 10 times in 15 finals this season, won the US 19 championship while coming in 2nd place at Capital City and the King of the Coast series. He finished second to his brother at the NHRA Division 2 Bracket Finals and posted a semifinal finish at the IHRA Bracket Finals. Varner also earned a runner-up finish at the Capital City $10K race and added a semifinal finish at the BMP $10K.

5 – Avery Bolding

Avery Bolding posts a Top 5 finish in the 10-12 list after winning 10 times in 15 finals. This season Avery earned the Brainerd Motorsports Park season championship, won the IHRA Race of Champions at the World Finals, and won several $1K races as she traveled the country turning on win lights.

6 – Mia Rybarski

Mia Rybarski lands in the #6 spot after winning 13 times this season. Rybarksi was a consistent player on the weekly DragChamp Jr. Racer Top 10 List throughout the season.

7 – Jace Renoll

Jace Renoll showed out on the biggest stages during the 2022 season to earn his Top 10 spot. Renoll captured the NHRA Division 7 Championship after making finals at every event. Jace made 7 straight final round appearances at Tucson Dragway including multiple finals at the Hangover Nationals. At the Jr. Christmas on the Coast, Jace posted a semifinal finish in Saturday’s $20K, a semifinal finish in 10-12 on Friday, and a runner-up in 10-12 on Sunday.

8 – Gage Blevins

Gage Blevens earned his Top 10 spot after making numerous DragChamp Jr. Top 10 Lists throughout the season. Blevens, the NHRA Division 3 Champion, won 8 times in 14 finals. In addition to his D3 Championship, Gage also won the NHRA National Open, the Working Man’s $10K race, the TB Promotions $50K race, along with picking up wins at several Mid West Jr Super Series races.

9 – Ty Janousek

“Big” Ty Janousek stood out on the biggest stages this season to lock down a Top 10 finish. At the Jr. Christmas on the Coast, Ty drove his 8.90 car to a runner-up finish in Friday’s $5K then made a semifinal appearance in his 7.90 car on Sunday! His biggest accomplishments this season included winning both the NHRA & IHRA Division 4 championships and the WCF Gamblers race.

10 – Blake Toler

Blake Toler posted 9 wins in 13 finals to secure his Top 10 spot. The wins came fast and furious after he missed several months at the start of the season when a spectator ran over his Jr. dragster. Once the car was repaired, Blake was a constant fixture on the weekly Jr. Top 10 Lists.

10 – Wyatt Bacon

Wyatt Bacon, the Byron Dragway track champ, won 9 times in 13 finals to grab the final spot in the 10-12 Jr. Racer Top 10 List. Bacon won two Wally’s, made 8 semifinal appearances, and earned a spot in the Race of Champions.
