DragChamp Top 10 List
1 – The Terminator

Peter Biondo sweeps the Loose Rocker American Doorslammer Nationals to lead the Top 10 List presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance. Biondo won both the Saturday and Sunday $20 granders to lock down the top spot this week. Although he no longer competes on a regular basis, you’d never know it based on his recent track record. This is the second time in the last few months that Peter has grabbed the #1 spot and I don’t think he’s raced much more than twice in that time frame.
2 – Jerron Settles

Jerron Settles, the Flyin Air Brush, jumps to the #2 spot this week after grabbing his first national event victory at the NHRA World Finals. Settles win comes on the heel of a clutch performance last week that saw him win the Vegas LODRS to claim the D7 Super Comp championship. He kept the momentum going in Pomona to close the season with back-to-back victories.
3 – Bob Locke

Before last week, Bob Locke had never won a NHRA national event but he traveled to Pomona knowing he had to do just that to claim the Super Gas championship. Bob rolled through the field for six rounds where he found himself in the final needing one more win light to become the NHRA World Champ. Locke overcame the long odds and intense pressure to claim his first national event victory becoming the 2023 Super Gas World Champ in the process.
4 – Lance Abbott

Lance Abbott went into Pomona in a dog fight with fellow D4 Top Sportsman competitor Vince Hoda. Abbott needed to win the semifinals to lock down the championship but if he fell early, Hoda would have to win the race to claim the championship. Both racers made their way through the ladder where they ultimately met in the final. By that point, Abbott had locked down the championship and he finished off the day with the class trophy.
5 – Cooter Hidalgo

Jimmy “Cooter” Hidalgo has enjoyed a pretty good couple of weeks out west. Last week he picked up a runner-up finish in Super Stock at the Vegas LODRS. He followed that with a Super Stock victory on Sunday at the World Finals. And to make it even more special, Cooter claimed the Stock Eliminator World Championship when his closest competitor, Brad Burton, fell one round short of the title.
6 – Pete D’Agnolo

Pete D’Agnolo made his trip to Vegas last week count when he posted a fifth round finish in Super Stock. That finish put him eight points ahead of 2021 World Champ Greg Stanfield in the 2022 points chase. D’Agnolo earned the world championship a week later when Greg Stanfield came up one round short in his pursuit of a second straight championship.
7 – Jeremy Hancock

Jeremy Hancock earned the Top Dragster world championship after posting several wins early in the season. To complete his championship run, Hancock borrowed a car for the last two national events of the season. At the Vegas national, he padded his points lead enough to lock down the title.
8 – Vince Hoda

Vince Hoda put up a tremendous fight for the Top Sportsman championship. Although Lance Abbott edged him out by a couple of rounds, Hoda had a heck of a season which included a U.S. Nationals victory and #2 finish nationally. Hoda did everything he had to do at Pomona to put himself in position to win the title which is an impressive feat.
9 – Greg Stanfield

2021 Super Stock World Champ Greg Stanfield came just eight points shy of winning back-to-back titles. Going into Pomona, the five-time world champ needed to advance to the fifth round to leapfrog Pete D’Agnolo for the title. Stanfield got packaged up in the fourth round to finish one round short of a sixth championship.
10 – Hannah Blevins

Hannah Blevins grabs the #10 spot on the Top 10 List this week after cashing for $5K at Farmington Dragway. Blevins was doubled at six cars and carried one entry all the way to the winners circle.
