Kash Green Wilkinson: Jr DragChamp Racer Spotlight

FERRIS, TX- Kash Green Wilkinson is a remarkably talented Junior Dragster driver, who, over the past year and a half, has been fearlessly competing in races across Texas. Since none of his family members race, it was the TV Show, Street Outlaws, that ignited Kash’s passion for drag racing. DragChamp’s own, Gary Don Free played a pivotal role, generously offering advice and support to kickstart Kash’s journey in the Junior Dragster program.

His home tracks are Xtreme Raceway Park and Pine Valley Raceway where he runs the 8.90 class. Kash has also competed in the Southwest Jr. Dragster Series that races throughout the state of Texas and beyond.

His Race Cars

Kash currently has two hotrods in the stable. The first is a 2007 Halfscale chassis with a McGee motor that runs 8.90s which they have owned for two years. His newly acquired Junior Dragster runs 7.90s and is a Jr Racecar with a 3 and 3/4 ZR4 motor that was built in 2020. He helps maintain both cars by making sure they are spotless and checking air pressure in the tires.

Kash’s Accomplishments

Kash’s first win, which he is the one he is most proud of was at a Southwest Jr. Dragster Series race in the 10-12 age group class. Throughout his career, he has won a few times and claimed a few runner-up finishes. His most recent win was July 22, 2023 where he won the Xtreme Bracket Series All Run class which was a total of 7 rounds.

Kash’s Q&A

What’s on your bucket list, future goals, what do you hope to achieve?

One bucket list item is that I’d like to win a Christmas on the Coast Jr Dragster race. My goal is to be in the DragChamp Jr. Racer top ten list and be a dragster racing champion one day.

Who has made the biggest impact on your racing success?

My whole family has made a big impact on my racing success including my parents, grandparents and Austin, my best friend who hopefully will be racing with us soon in a 7.90 Jr Dragster.

Who do you look up to in the sport?

I look up to people like John Force in the sport who came from nothing.

Who do you hate to see in the other lane, and why?

I don’t hate to see anyone in the other lane, it’s just another race whether they are the best in the country or they are my friend or enemy.

What’s the hardest part of drag racing?

The hardest part of Jr Drag Racing I feel is having to play catch up with all these kids who’ve been doing it since they were 7 and are 12-17 now vs me who has been racing for about 1 1/2 years. 

What do you enjoy the most at the racetrack?

What I enjoy about drag racing the most is winning and having fun with my friends and family while I’m there.

Do you love to win or hate to lose?

Love to win and hate to lose unless it was a good race then that makes it a bit easier 

Which are you better at the starting line or the finish line?

I’m probably better at the starting line. I don’t do much pedaling, my dad has me holding 1 number most of the time. I run pretty good lights a .010-.050 normally. My target is a .020-.050 for my reaction time.

Favorite movie or TV show?

My favorite TV show is a tie between Duck Dynasty and Driving Force

Favorite music, artist?

I don’t listen to new music so don’t really have one.

Where do you spend the most time on the internet?

I spend my most time on the internet looking at drag cars and motors

What is your favorite sport?  Favorite team?

Drag Racing

Besides racing, what do you do in your free time?

Besides racing, I don’t do a whole lot. My Dad and I fish a little bit and I go over to my friends house during the week.

What’s your favorite thing to eat?  Individual item, meal, or restaurant? 

Tenderloin Steak

Who would you like to thank, who helps you the most? 

I’d like to thank my parents, grandparents and family who help me a lot. And I’d also like thank my friend, Austin.

What is a piece of advice you’d give to an aspiring racer? 

Keep practicing and don’t give up
