READING, PA – Dave Stine grew up in a hot-rodding family. His father, John, and mother Joyce were both car people who enjoyed their hot rods, passing on that love to their offspring. Dave and his brother Dean both raced motorcycles for a while before Dave became infatuated with four wheels, finally ending up with a dragster to run in NHRA’s Super Comp class.

On January 31st, 2021, Dave lost his life in an ATV Accident near his home near Maple Grove Raceway. Since then, the Mid Atlantic .90 Series & the Stricker / Stine family have thrown together an event in honor of Dave’s life. The Inaugural Dave Stine Memorial paid out $10,000 to the winners in Super Comp & $5,000 to Super Gas & Street with a Top Sportsman & Dragster mixed into the event also, in 2022 the event went above and beyond with over $32,000 given away to the winners in the .90 classes plus the addition of Junior Dragsters but, a rain out on Sunday put a small damper on the event and car counts.
With events already taken up the weekend before the Lucas Race & National Event at Maple Grove, Race Promoter Rob Keister decided to shoot for a Mid-Summer Classic this year where the weather is normally pretty good, you get the sun up longer and it can be warm late for night racing if possible.
