King of the Coast Kicks Off 2024 Season in February

The 20th Annual BTE King of the Coast presented by David McMurtry Engines series is back again for 2024! Event #1 will be held February 16-18, 2024 at Gulfport Dragway.

GULFPORT, MS- Are you looking for a new series to run with great promoters, fantastic payouts, and good times? Well, look no further than the BTE King of the Coast Bracket Racing Series presented by David McMurtry Performance Engines! Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024, this series is set to kick off the season with Event #1 from February 16-18 at Gulfport Dragway. The event promises excitement with four separate classes, including Electronics, Footbrake, Sportsman, and Junior Dragsters.

Rick’s Powder Coating & Customs Electronics

In Rick’s Powder Coating & Customs Electronics class, racers will compete for $7,500-to-win & $1,000-to-runner-up on both Saturday and Sunday. Semi-finalists will earn $500. Buybacks will be available 1st or 2nd round and will be $75 if needed.

The weekend entry for both days of Electronics competition is only $250 and each single day is $150. Round money starts with 3rd round winners. Doorslammers and dragsters will be separated until 5th round and then combined.

Alliance Race Wear Footbrake 

In Alliance Race Wear Footbrake, $4,000 will be up for grabs for the winner and $750 will go to the runner-up finisher on both Saturday and Sunday. Semi-finalists will cash in for $400. The weekend entry will be $200 or $125 on each day. Buybacks will be available for 1st or 2nd round and will be $65. Round money also starts with 3rd round winners.

Velocity Racing Carbs Sportsman

In Velocity Racing Carbs Sportsman class, racers will compete for $100 and $50 for runner-up based on 10 entries on both days. The purse is bumped to $200-to-win if there are 20 entries. The entry fee is FREE with a $15 spectator pass each day. There will also be a $10 buyback available 1st and 2nd round.

Junior Specialities / S&W Powersports Junior Dragsters presented by Bone Shaker Motorsports

Once again this year, there will be three Junior Dragster classes: Ages 7-9, 10-12, and 13-17. Ages 7-9 will be $200-to-win and $50 to runner-up based on 6 entries. The entry fee is $40 per race and a $20 buyback is available for 1st and 2nd round.

In the 10-12 & 13-17 year old classes, the winner will earn $800 with the runner-up claiming $200 on both days with a $75 entry and $30 1st or 2nd round buyback. Payouts are based on 15 entries.

Event Extras

Wild Cards

Wild Cards will be available for Electronics, Footbrake, and Sportsman. Racers can buy up to 3 wild cards at $10 for 1, $20 for 2 or $25 for 3. The winner will advance to round 4. The wild card winners can never be the wait-n-see bye at any time during the race, even if the remaining entries have already had a bye run.

David McMurtry Engines Perfect Run Challenge presented by Three Oaks Garage

$500 will be awarded to the racer with the 1st perfect run on the weekend! If no winner, the payout increases at the next King of the Coast event.

  • 7:00am- Gates Open
  • 7:15am- Church Service
  • 8:00am- Jr. Dragster Time Run
  • 10:00am- Footbrake Time Run (1)
  • Followed by Electronics and Sportsman Time Run (1)

Spectator/ Crew Pit Side Admission

  • Friday Attendance- $10
  • 1 Race Attendance- $15
  • Complete Event Pass- $40
  • Kids 8 and Under FREE!
