FRIENDSWOOD, TX- Landon Emmons of Emmons Motorsports Racing has been racing Junior Dragsters for four years now, having started back in 2020 at the age of 11. Introduced to the sport through his family, Landon’s upbringing revolved around the thrill of racing, with his father, alongside uncles Terry, Jerry, and Gary, as well as his older brother Will, all actively participating in the sport of drag racing.

Currently, Landon competes in the 13-17 age group at racetracks throughout his home state of Texas. Additionally, he has plans to start running Stock Eliminator this year.

His Race Car

Landon’s Junior Dragster is a 2019 Halfscale Electric that he has owned for four years. The motor is a Netgain HyPer 9HV IS. It runs on a 36 Cell Lonestar Battery, reaching up to 144 volts and up to 1,000 amps, allowing it to achieve 7.90-second runs. Beyond his driving responsibilities, Landon takes charge of prepping the tires, charging his car, and ensuring the chains and bearings are in optimal condition.

Landon’s Q&A

Which win are you most proud of? 

I am most proud of my 2022 Houston Raceway Park JDRL Challenge win at the Spring Nationals.

What’s on your bucket list, future goals, what do you hope to achieve? 

I am going to start running Stock Eliminator this year and I hope to win a Stock/Super Stock NHRA World Championship one day.

Who has made the biggest impact on your racing success? 

My Dad, Uncles, and my Brothers who push me to keep improving myself.

Who do you look up to in the sport?

My Dad.

What’s the hardest part of drag racing? 

Staying consistent on the tree.

What do you enjoy most about racing? 

I enjoy being with friends and family and seeing the win lights turn on.

Which are you better at the starting line or the finish line? 

I am better at the finish line.

Favorite movie or TV show?

Ford v Ferrari

What’s your favorite thing to eat?  Individual item, meal, or restaurant?

A good steak with a Dr Pepper.

What advice would you give to young aspiring racers?

Never give up, follow your dreams, and always give it your best.
